    Why'd you choose boxers?

Not a terribly exciting story, but I was in college and had just moved into an apartment that allowed pets specifically because I meant to get a dog. I was doing research on over a dozen different breeds. The one I wanted most, a German Shepherd, was banned in my building along with the...

substitute for taste of the wild

Also good choices. I stick with Amazon because I'm a Prime member, but anywhere that offers free shipping is a solid choice. I ordered my 30 pound bag of food yesterday and received it today. Can't beat that. :)

Need help picking a dry kibble.

I've always had really good results with Taste of the Wild Prairie formula. Compared to other premium foods it's well-priced (45-50 bucks for a 30 pound bag) and my boxer has never had any issues with it. I order it on Amazon and it arrives two days later with free shipping. Can't beat that.

    Boxer loosing hair

My boxer Loki suffered the same type of hair loss when he was younger, although it mostly on his face and back. Blood work showed that he had a hypothyroid condition. Luckily, it doesn't seem to be terribly serious. Two pills a day (I just drop them in his food, as I feed him twice) and the...

    Mild seizures while sleeping ??

Shove her or call her name while she's doing it. If she wakes up immediately (as a dog typically would do), she's just having an intense dream. My boxer dreams often and easily. Typically it's just twitching and mild chewing, but sometimes he'll bark, whine, shake, and do any number of other...

    beds preferred by boxers

I use towels in both of my dogs' crates. If they aren't comfortable, they have yet to complain. :)

Question about the best food & shampoo

Honestly, the best dog food is typically the best premium food that gives your dog the best results. There's not really a right answer. If your dog's stool is generally solid, he's on a food that agrees with him. If it's generally not solid, you should switch him. I use Taste of the Wild...

Isn't the Furminator specifically designed for dogs with dual coats?

    Adding Another Puppy???

My boxer was about four when I added my second dog (a GSD), so my situation was a bit different, but I'll offer you what advice I can. One thing you need to figure out is whether or not your dog is toy possessive. Would he fight another dog over a toy? Keep in mind that it's different...

    Boxers and Snow

Loki loves the snow. I used to live in Ohio where we'd get a pretty solid amount of snowfall in a given year, and Loki enjoyed playing in it. He also loved when I'd throw snowballs at him. He'd leap up and try to catch them. My German Shepherd Sandor, on the other hand, hates the snow. He...

    Indestructable Crate Pad???

Personally, I use towels in both of my dogs' crates. I started this with Loki because he used to have separation anxiety issues and would rip up a bed if I put it in there with him. Once I switched to towels I no longer had the issue. I've never used anything but towels for my German Shepherd...

Should I play tug of war with my boxer?

When Loki was a puppy I played tug with him a lot. He grew out of it around two or so, though. He just kind of lost interest in the game, along with mostly losing his prey drive (unless I get out the laser pointer). I've never had any dominance issues with Loki, either. Then again, he's...

    Loki: A Timeline

Is it that your Boxer is large or that you GSD is small? Both of mine are about normal size. Loki is right around 70 pounds and Sandor is around 90, although he may still gain a few pounds as he gets closer to two years.
