I know that dogs can sometimes shake a little, make noises etc. while they are sleeping... maybe dreams ??? Who knows. This past week though my female has had several episodes where she has just started shaking in her sleep. Once this past week it was enough to wake me up because the whole bed was shaking. It seems different somehow than what I will call just "doggie dreams".

Has anyone else experienced anything like this ? Do you think it is just dreaming or whatever ? It has happened several times this week so it is unusual. Once I wake her she seems to be okay so I am just not sure what to think.

Thanks so much,
Jaime

My girl runs, shakes, chews, whines, barks, snorts and talks (woo-woos) in her sleep. When it gets too loud I wake her up by gently touching her. If I don't get her awake enough (looking at me) she will start it all over again. She plays hard and sleeps hard so I don't worry about it.
My previous girl did the same but not as intense and all I had to do was say the cats name and it woke her up every time.

That's funny.

My boxer girl shakes; it feels like convulsions. There are times that it wakes her up too and she looks up and is all grumpy, her body is still moving and then it stops. It's almost like involuntary twitching. Then she goes back to bed.

My foster boy has had a seizure and he's out of it afterward. They also sometimes lose their bowels during seizures, so it sounds to me like your girl is just dreaming or moving or whatever. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Sounds normal, Lucy shakes the entire bed sometimes.

Shove her or call her name while she's doing it. If she wakes up immediately (as a dog typically would do), she's just having an intense dream. My boxer dreams often and easily. Typically it's just twitching and mild chewing, but sometimes he'll bark, whine, shake, and do any number of other ridiculous things while he's sleeping.

Oddly enough my Shepherd doesn't really do any of that. I've only seen him dreaming about twice in the almost two years I've had him. Maybe it's a breed thing?
