Rusty hates the snow (we've had several storms in the last 3 weeks); even 2 inches of it bothers him. Also rain - we had one day with almost 4" - he hates mud, too.

He DOES enjoy warmer weather (50 degrees +) and he will play in the fenced yard, and "talk" to the *Rottweiler Girls* next door for about a half hour, on those days. :)

Loki loves the snow. I used to live in Ohio where we'd get a pretty solid amount of snowfall in a given year, and Loki enjoyed playing in it. He also loved when I'd throw snowballs at him. He'd leap up and try to catch them.

My German Shepherd Sandor, on the other hand, hates the snow. He grew up in North Carolina and didn't see snow for the first time (about two inches worth) until about a week ago (when he was a year and a half). He refused to poop for a day and a half because he didn't want to or was afraid of walking in the snow.

So if your dog has never seen it before, he might be a little wary or afraid of it.

Lots of good advise already given..
I found that expensive, stiff boots like ruffwear will give our two Boxers blisters that wear through the hair and cause bleeding if you walk them more than 1/2 hr or so. The lighter cheaper boots may not be fancy looking, but like mocasins work well with out causing blisters. It is hilarious to watch them when they first get booties too.

Our two wear homemade polar fleece sweaters which are light, warm and offer good freedom of movement. When their tongues start hanging out from playing rough I take the sweaters off.
