Hello, I was wondering what the best food and shampoo is for Boxers? She is currently on TOTW puppy food but I have been reading on here that its not the most reputable company. She is dark brindle and I can see some white flakes on her coat its not really bad but I want her to have a beautiful coat so which brand is beat for their coats and skin? Thank you in advance for the help

Unfortunately there is no real answer to your question :) There are lots of great foods out there and each dog does differently on them.
Lots of dogs do well on TOTW but yes, it is manufactured by Diamond which is a company that does not have the greatest track record. It comes down to what you're comfortable with - personally I am not comfortable feeding any Diamond products, but some people are if the dog does well on it.

Some food brands I like...
Fromm
Orijen
Acana
Pure Vita
Canine Caviar
Natures Logic

I tend to like gentle/natural shampoos ie, Earthbath, Buddy Wash, or Mutt Nose Best. I've used all 3 brands with great success - they smell good and leave my dogs soft and shiny.

The dry skin may or may not be caused by her diet. It's not uncommon during the colder months of the year for their skin to take a bit of a beating - Juno's been battling flaky skin all winter. It's helpful to use a gentle shampoo so you don't dry out the skin further, and make sure to rinse rinse rinse thoroughly. Adding a conditioner can help moisturize too.

Honestly, the best dog food is typically the best premium food that gives your dog the best results. There's not really a right answer. If your dog's stool is generally solid, he's on a food that agrees with him. If it's generally not solid, you should switch him.

I use Taste of the Wild Prairie for my dogs and get good results. I have several friends who feed their dogs Blue Buffalo, although that one doesn't work all that well for my boxer (the GSD does fine on it, though). I used to feed him Natural Balance with no issues as well, but then Amazon jacked up the price.

Just experiment until you find the one that works for your dog.

As far as shampoos go, I almost never bathe my boxer (once every two months or so unless he gets really dirty or starts to stink), but I use one of the "sensitive skin" shampoos and haven't had any problems. Nothing fancy. I take the GSD to the groomer because I'm not even going to try to deal with that.

We feed Wellness Core. There is a link on here to dog food analysis and rankings. It will give you info on the best rated foods along with ingredient lists. It's a good place to start.

Dog Food Analysis - Changing foods

As for shampoos I like puppy shampoo with all natural ingredients.
