I love this thread! Instead of Dorothy Hamil hair I had the Farah Fawcett...pet rocks, trolls, banana bike, KISS, David Cassidy, velour hot pants, peasant tops, glitter nails, halters, earth tone appliances and carpeting - this has been a great trip back in time - thank you Cashisking and Jennifer...

You mean that song is NOT about Aerobics??? Then what IS it about? ;)

I still loooooove the Muppets. I think I have all the Muppet movies on VHS. Would love to find the original episodes. And The Wizard of Oz was a huge event. Every year, we'd tell my little brother not to look at the wicked witch, but he'd ignore us, and get nightmares. Oh, and I had a Donnie and Marie lunchpail. I was kinda a tomboy, and played with Star Wars figures and my brothers' Stompers.

Orange shag carpet AND avacado green appliances in the same house. I had rainbow sheets and a rainbow mural on my wall. Also had a shirt with a huge sparkly butterfly on the front with my name in sparkly letters on the back.

This is all way too funny. I was born in '72, so all this stuff is really bringing back those memories! I wanna be a kid again!!!

Hey Chewy's Mom,

I have avacado green appliences in my apartment now, along with avacado kitchen tile. (yeah, its gross) but at least we updated the bathroom about 10 years ago and got rid of the green in there.
Now if I can convince him to loose the paneling!

And Wizard of Oz! Don't get me started, i'm obsessed with it.
The monkeys and winkies are my favorites. My collection has way overgrown my apartment. 3/4 of it is packed away down in the garages in storage. Don't even know what I have anymore, over 2,000 pieces i suspect.

ok, back to the thread
anybody else take batton(sp) lessons, wear gym suits and lots of plaid tweed dresses?(no wonders I refuse to wear a dress now!)

the 70's

oh, forgot to add:

My banana seat bike was red, white and blue, because EVERYTHING was stars and stripes during the bicentenial in '76:p

And we can't forget we were the first people to test drive those TOE SOCKS

And I don't think it was just our house that had mushrooms decorating the kitchen, along with the gigantic wooden spoon and fork on the walls.

I had those rainbow sheets too, and a jersey with a rainbow on the front, with my name on the back.

Our carpet was not shag, but it was a nasty Gold color, someone's story about clipping and gluing the shag happened in our house too when my older brother had a party and everyone got cig burn holes in the carpet, same exact s*** hit the fan when our mom vaccuumed too!

Wow! Am I in the twlight zone!!! Oh yeah the orange shag, the green counters, the "Farrah" do (wings), k-tel records, the Fonz tee, my first love Starsky from Starsky and Hutch, playing Charlies Angels w/ my cousins, red/white/blue Dr. Scholls, Barbie w/ growing boobs, I tell my friends about that doll and they think I am crazy, wish I still had it! Jeans worn so tight we had to lay on the bed and use a hanger to zip them up! HR Puffin stuff, Buggaloos, Sigman the seamonster, always wanted the easy bake oven, but we were "too broke" yeah right! It is weird to see some of those styles come back! I did'nt want to give up my flare jeans and vowed never to go back! AAHH Good Times! Thanks for the reminders, I am going to call my cousin right now!

I did try to grow sea monkeys, but they never grew. However, I actually bought some a few years ago and I had success with raising them!! I felt so proud because there were so many and they got so big!!!
