YAY Deb!!!!!

I am sorry you are having all the problems, and it just isn't going smooth.. For sure go see a doctor! I have read in several places that smoking can mask illnesses. Like Depression, and asthma, blood pressure issues, etc. Have you cut down on caffine?? and drinking LOTS of water? I can not sympathise with the loss of appetite, as mine has GROWN like you wouldn't believe. I haven't eaten three meals a day since middle school. You hang in there though.. Everyone experiences different quits. Some hard, some very difficult.. Remember how far you have come!! You are into your second week, and that is a GREAT accomplishment, especially given the tough time you are having.. (How many sickarettes not smoked) I was taking St John's Wort for my mood swings, but I have found them to be waining.. Maybe try that, do you think it may have anything to do with Wellbutrin being an anti depressant and your brain trying to adjust to no nicotine.. your Dopamine levels are not wildly swinging once an hour now.. Well hope that all is well when you go to the DR, and I am sending you some <<<calming vibes>>> Surely you must have a moment of clarity every now and then when you feel ok?!?!?!

One day at a time!!

Back on the quit meter :) but I have to ask, is anyone else having heart palpitations?? I have been on meds for many many years for tachycardia (sp) and BP with it all well under control, but yesterday I started having palpatations and today they are somewhat more frequent. anyone else having these?

Deb calming vibes are coming from me to you. You sound like my attempt a few years ago, (if you read back you will see the post) and I ended up having to take a sedative as well.

I have noticed that my heart seems to be beating way too fast at times and that is when the stomach thing and the shaking starts. I did talk to my Dr. this afternoon and she told me to stop taking the wellbutrin immediately! Said it can cause anxiety attacks and it sounded like that was what is happening to me. I thought this was an anti-depressant?? But she said it can have quite the opposite effect on some people! Lucky me! So I only had two days worth left anyway so I trashed 'em and we'll see if this helps any. I took it a few years back and don't remember this but I only took it for less than two weeks before and have been on it nearly a month now, so who knows. I really hope that is all it is. I'll keep you posted. djk

I am not taking Welbutrin, I am trying this totally cold turkey, but I am thinking maybe the Welbutrin is the way to go again, maybe in my case it would stop the palpatations.

Debbie, I'm glad you called your doctor. I was wondering if the Wellbutrin was giving you problems. I hope you start feeling better soon!

Jean, good luck to you! I hope your palpitations go away! Maybe your doctor can help out.

Jenn, you sound great! I'm glad it's getting easier for you!

Hang in there! You will get through this!

I had the same problems Debbie. And yes, it is an anti-depressant, but if you have normal chemical balance then it can cause the exact oppposite effect. I was horribly anxious and jittery, and (I'm told) a "total bitch" ( I am usuaully only a partial bitch I guess :p ) while I was on it. I actually asked my dentist about coming off of it, but he didn't give me that option. Of course, he didn't know how crappy I really felt on the Welbutrin.

You are through the hardest part of the quitting now, so maybe if you stop taking it you can get the best of both worlds.

:)

When Don was taking this years ago to quit smoking, I called them his "smarta**" pills. He was awful on them

Oh Cubby and Amanda...Thanks so much for re-assuring me on this! I really thought I was losing it...just an awful feeling of desparation plus super bitchy!!! Good Lord! The only creatures I was nice too were GK and Jack! I have not taken any today so maybe this will wear off soon and I can return to my normal "sweet" self!;) Thanks, djk

Today is 2 weeks for me, and over 200 cigs not smoked

Deb,

Glad you talked to the doc! Heres to hoping that the Wellbutrin was throwing you for a loop, and you will be able to relax and enjoy the FACT that you QUIT smoking!!!!beericon appicon

Jean,

I hope you talk to your doc too. It is possible a change in med dosage, or change in meds.. As the nicotine leaves your body!!

I am so very proud of you both and anyone else who has quit smoking! What an accomplishment!! One day at a time ladies!!!

Okay

so where is the nearest spa/rehab centre? I think we should all meet up at one and endure this together in a spa isolation.

Or
how about a deserted island somewhere? We could start a whole new idea on the Survivor series. The winner gets to come out alive!! (I figure with the nic withdrawal, & pms we would all be going at each other pretty hard )

Seriously, I had to stay home from work today. The palpatations are not any better, and unfortunatly when I have them it physically drains me (Been through them before, even when not trying to quit)

How's everyone else today?

Jean
