No island thanks anyways!!!!!

I am sorry, but the sane side of me thinks it is a BAD idea to go anywhere with a bunch of women who are in the process of quitting smoking!! I'd go for the spa though!! I have actually had a few rough moments today, but have not smoked!! I am learning a new program at work and it is stressful..:( I just have to learn another way to cope with the stress instead of giving in and smoking which by the way would probably make me sick at this point in the game.. One day at a time!!!!! Hang in there Jean you can get past this, have you been able to speak to a dr???

Deb, are you chipper yet???

I have quit for 1 Week, 6 Days, 21 hours and 46 minutes (13 days). I have saved $33.89 by not smoking 208 cigarettes. I have saved 17 hours and 20 minutes of my life.

wooohoooo:D That thing gives me such a sense of pride!!!

Nope, my dr is over an hour away, and to be honest I think I am okay, just physically drained from having them, not to mention feeling totally unhappy today and miserable. Even Miss Kailee is giving me that look of Oh No!! mom's on a rampage today ;) Clyde takes it all in his stride, and hubby well, he has kept himself fairly invisible today stating he feels I need some rest LOL Does that tell you how things are going here? If they haven't let up by tomorrow, after a day of rest, I will for sure be giving the Dr a call. I am just so disenchanted though as I have been able to experience 2 years of no issues with palpatations, and even got to lower my meds. Now this! Fingers crossed I am just overworked and overstressed foolicon

Glad to hear you fought the demon today Jenn Way to Go!!

Deb how are ya?

I am OK. Still feel like crap warmed over but I am OK. I am not finding any enjoyment out of this and feel like I have lost a friend. Pathetic huh?? I really think it is partially because I do not really want to quit...I HAVE to quit but I don't really want to! The thought of never having another good smoke does not bring me pleasure. Sorry but I am just being honest and this is how I feel. This morning I pulled into a convenience store parking lot fully intending to get a pack, but I just sat there for a while and finally got the strenght to leave empty-handed. I have not mentioned this until now, but my husband has been sick...diagnosed with congestive heart failure (same as GK!!) He has been told that with meds it can be controlled IF he quits smoking, that it is the smoke that is destroying his heart. So see I have no choice, I cannot expect him to quit if I don't, so I need to just get over it, quit bitching and shut up about it! I have to quit for his sake and I can do it for his sake. But it's no fun and I justcan't get all excited about it like I thought I could. Me (I think)

Oh Deb I am so sorry to hear about your husband. Please know that all of you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

It is tough to quit, and I have had periods of deep depression today, unable to control my emotions and thinking that I was much happier just a few short days ago. Sad that one's life becomes so dependent on a cigarette. Like you say, one has to want to quit, and I am not sure I am totally comitted to the want, I guess it was easier to want while I was still smoking :) I dunno, I am now one more day smokefree, but I am still not saying I am a non smoker. One hr at a time, and if I fail, then I will just keep picking myself up and quit again. I know though everyone around me would like to see me succeed and get on with my life and trust me, although I hear myself being bitchy, I cannot seem to control it, yet I know it isn't fair to the people around me to have to deal with this, at some point this has to work. Anyway enough about me and my desire to head out onto that balcony and have a "Du Maurier Moment" (Kind of like a Hallmark moment to other people ;) ) I say if we make it one more week, we all take our savings and book a massage. Good idea?

They won't touch my feet will they?? Can't stand that!!

And after I get through this...my next task will be to ween Jack off of plastic bottles!! Yep, I must confess..he has the addiction..the ol plastic bottle addiction. You see in the evenings, I have been partially freezing a bottle of water and then eating the ice chips instead of smoking or eating. He whines non-stop the entire time I have the bottle until I finally finish with it and give it to him. He has it for all of five minutes because he chews it up and I have to take it away from him that quick...but he HAS to have it anyway... Ahhh my work here will never be done. ;) Hey...what was that??? Was that an ever so small attempt at humor on my part??? Hmmmm...now that is a good sign, huh!!!:p djk

Debbie--I'm sorry your husband is ill. I'm glad it can be controlled with meds and quitting smoking. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Yes, there was humor in your last post--yippee!!!--Debbie is shining through!!!:)

Jean--you are right. If you have a slip and smoke, then quit again and keep quitting until you can finally quit! But you are doing great. I know it doesn't feel great, but keep hanging in there.

Stick with it!!!

I know how you all feel, and have been there.. I argue with my brain ALOT.. "I just want one more" "I could just do it socially" "I can go get a pack smoke one, and throw the rest out" "Is that old butt long enough to smoke" "I really don't want/have to quit" Those feelings subside. I had some very short thoughts last night.. I believe that is an addiction trying to reason with the rational part of your brain.. I ask myself alot "Am I stronger or is the adiction?" I hope I am... Last night my roommate found a pack of cigarettes in the garage with ONE left (how I missed that in the first 72 hours is BEYOND me) She destroyed it, then told me about it, I started thinking what would I have done with that thing??? I think/HOPE I would have thrown it into the toilet.. But I just don't know... A long road to recovery..

Deb, I am sorry to hear about hubbies CHF I hope you both can kick this habit. I did notice a hint of humor trying to shine through, could it be that you are healing and returning to your old self?? This is the best thing you can do! For hubby, and for YOU!! Keep it up!!

Jean, are you feeling any better today???

I'm here and I'm A-OK!! I am a NON-smoker!
1 week, 5 days, 7 hours
183 cigarettes NOT smoked
$25.30 and 15 hours and 15 minutes of life saved!

Man oh Man what a difference tossing that Wellbutrin away has made! I have not taken any for four and a half days now and I am "Me" again. No more shaking, whining, crying, wimped out, pathetic, stomach knotted, pile of nerves any more and boy am I ever glad!! :D I really thought it was the withdrawal making me that way...I would have never guessed it was the Wellbutrin, but it obviously was...cause I feel pretty good now. Back to normal..except that I don't cough anymore and can actually take long deep breaths without coughing! ;) For the first time I am actually beginning to think that this IS gonna work for me. My husband has quit also and although he is getting rather grouchy, we have not strangled each other, nor have we started consulting divorce attorneys!! We're gonna make it...we're ALL gonna make it! djk
