Hang in there Jenn and welcome to the "quitters" crowd. I have been taking the welbutrin for 7 days now and it is starting to work...cause I can't hardly stand to put one in my mouth...they taste sooooo nasty and I know that is coming from the welbutrin. I am down to about 3 per day and get a big big break next week...three day business trip in a non-smoking hotel room with a crowd of non-smokers.We're all riding together in their non-smoking cars, so I think this will be a big boost for me....so I had originally planned to make next Friday my last day but I am now moving that up to Monday 5-12. Stay strong girl...I'll be pullin for you...We CAN do this!! Deb

Remember, no matter what your brain tells you, those things are YUCKY, the little guy is lying and you know it!! And you are right about being comitted, it has pulled me along too!!

Good for all of you for being on the road to quitting :D.... I thankfully got my mum to stop.. I just couldnt stand it.. I saw a presentation at school when I was in grade 4 and the stuf fthey showed grossed me out so much.. and then they mentioned that you could die from it.. that hit me real hard knowing my mum smoked... I went home and cried.. everytime she lit up I'd cry at her knees begging her not to smoke becuz I dont want her to die.. she'd get so angry and so frustraited with me... I'd cry whenver she lit up with her friends socially and embarass her  and I would show her adds of what her lungs mite end up looking like... eventually she came to the conclusion that she wnated to stop.. and it was hard for her at first.. but she got over that step and now she's 100% A QUITTER! she now cant STAND being around smoke and it actually makes her feel nautious.. I'm so proud of my mum.. and I tell her that everytime I see someone smoking... and it makes me feel so good when she says that I have helped her quit... I also have JUMPED FOR JOY when I found out that here in Alberta your not allowed to smoke in family restaurants.. I am very sensative to the smell and when i smell it I come close to throwing up, sooo what a releafe to me.. i can now go and enjoy being in a restaurant for once and know that I'm safe from second hand smoke... I dont know if my lil story will help any of you.... oh also.. there is a fact I read once that second hand smoke also affects pets, it is not good for thier health to be smelling 2nd hand smoke..... I know you guys can do it!!! COMMON!!! YAY partyicon

Good Morning Quitters and Quitters Cheering Section!!:)

I just want to say that last night was the absolute worst yet...if I had had some here I probably would have given in...but there weren't any here thank goodness so somehow I made it!!!!
That makes 72 cigarettes I have not smoked and have added 5hours and 55 minutes to my life! I got to feeling so bad last night that I finally just went to bed to try to escape through sleep and it worked, I feel pretty good this morning and get this...I have already quit coughing. I CAN do this, but it is so hard!

Jenn...Jean...you guys OK? djk

You all can do it............
When I was in college and univ I used to smoke on a more or les regular basis. Then after marriage Babu & I used to smoke occassionally, especially when we were travelling and now after RJ's birth we hardly ever smoke---only with some smoker friends, or when my brother and sis in law is visiting.
Now I wish I can stop my horrible craving for chocolates.

Good for you, Deb!!appicon appicon It is hard. It's the hardest habit (and addiction) I've ever had to quit, but it can be done. There are a lot of ex-smokers pulling for you, Jenn, Jean, and anyone else who is trying to quit or thinking about quitting.

And you are seeing the benefits already! That will help keep you hanging in there!

They still don't stink

1 Week, 2 Days, 16 hours, 52 minutes and 34 seconds (9 days). I have saved $23.64 by not smoking 145 cigarettes. I have saved 12 hours and 5 minutes of my life.

A-OK here, I went out last night to a casino, and people were smoking all around me. I must admit I was inhaling DEEPLY. It still does smell good to me, and I had some moments where I was completley fixated on smoking, BUT the cravings do pass with time. Deb, I slept/sleep more than before too.. Hey you woke up today SMOKE FREE!! isn't that a great feeling?? I am going to get a jigsaw puzzle to take my mind off the cravings... Also tinking about getting a bicycle, or starting to work out!!

I am feeling "different" Some times I just feel like I am walking around in a fog, but that feeling gets less and less every day! I really do "taste" food more, and I walked to the bank yesterday and smelled wet grass, and flowers, they just smelled more "intense"..

Jean, yep this is rough, first 72 hours is when you are fighting mental and physical withdrawl, drink LOTS of water, and juice. Everyone quitting should be cutting down their caffine as well, you dont need as much for a "kick" after the nicodemon has left your body. We'er here for you. Remember how you feel now and for the next few days, and think that if you go back to smoking (which we won't:) ) You will have to go through this whole process AGAIN next time you try to quit, if you ever get another chance to quit!! We can all do this, one day, minute, second at a time!!

I'm here

I had to work today, so that helps, as I am too busy to think about it. So, today has been smoke free. I was doing okay, until one of my clients passed away. After I dealt with the family, doctors and funeral home I truly truly wanted a smoke. ( I always crash after all is said and done) But there was none to be had, so I had to go without. I just wanted you all to know that I am still here, just staying kinda quiet for now ;)
