Spiders yuk! I have tried many times to get rid of this fear but nothing worked. When I was 6 years old I decided I couldn't be scared anymore so I seeked them out to kill them (we lived in the country side so spiders of all sizes were everywhere)...that is until I found one in my bed...I figured they were mad at me for killing so many of them and they were coming to get me.

Another very discusting thing, one summer we had a colony of black ants (about 1/2 an inch long) that nested somewhere in our house so they were everywhere walls ceilings etc... We tried every poison available to get rid of them nothing worked, although they diminished in numbers they only disappeared when the cold weather came back.

A tip for all you spider haters, mott balls will keep them away. If you don't want your furbabies and skinbabies to get the balls put them in a netting material close with a string and hang them on your porch. I really works!

Catherine....thanks for the tip for keeping spiders away! I am going to try that today. Spiders RULE my back porch when the sun goes down and I won't even let Xena out the back. I let her out the front and she runs around the back, takes care of her business, and comes back to the front door! She understands Mommy's phobia and works with me!:D
Spiders are pretty high on this poll, but seems there are more phobia's to *other things*. Strange how *little creatures* turn us into whimpering scared little children! However, phobias can be very extreme, and others need to know that it can be very serious! My mother almost jumped off a balcony one time to get away from a dead mouse my uncle decided to dangle in her face! My father had to grab her seconds before she was going to fall, and then he became very angry with my uncle for being sooooo immature and inconsiderate!smashicon

Mice! I see them out in the barn sometimes. I don't scream, but do get away as quick as I can. Also, put down poison constantly so they don't get out of control.

There is nothing like a June Bug to make me go screaming into the night. Those little legs cling to everything! I won't go to a ball game during the summer where I have to sit next to any light.

Also not to crazy about blister bugs or wasps.

I picked spiders in the poll because I am afraid of them. we have these large fat bodied spiders that build webs on our deck at night. I do enjoy watching them work but, I hate walking into one of their webs. if one ever got on me, oh boy! you'd hear me screaming for miles.

I also have an odd phobia of towers, such as those high criss-cross type electrical towers or these cell phone towers. I can't walk to the top of a mountain (or really large hill by some standards) near our home, due to two cell phone towers, plus a radio tower. I took the dogs up there once and freaked out. I thought I could handle it but there were too many electrical lines crossed around and the cell towers were on both sides of me. I just froze at one point. I went from "freeze" mode to running down the road with two boxers wondering just exactly what Mom was running from. I know the dogs were thinking, "what the h@ll is her problem?"

I try to ignore towers when I drive but I have to admit I get that jittery feeling inside when I know I'm passing one close enough that it could fall on me, nevermind the fact it will probably never fall. I know how ridiculous this is, but I can't help it.

Did you know that a June bug is just a grub worm that has reached maturity? I was at the Dallas World Aquarium today and I saw a Goliath Spider. Those things have a leg span of up to 11 1/2" and they eat birds. The one on display had to have a leg span of 8 or 9 inches.

I voted for "something else" because I am horrified by bees, wasps, yellow jackets, hornets, heck even some flys. I have never been stung and would prefer to keep it that way. If I hear buzzing, I run. I cannot stand that sound or the nasty little monsters making the sound. I am also afraid of large birds, mostly parrots. Small birds dont bother me a bit, in fact I would like to have a canary someday. I will not set foot near any larger pet bird. A friend of mine has an african grey and everytime I go over there they ask me to feed and water it. no way!!

Snakes. Not much bothers me, but I'm horrified of snakes. Spiders, rodents, water, heights, tight places, crowds - I don't exactly love them, but I can deal with them. Snakes send cold shivers down my spine.
