In a recent thread I have read regarding spiders, sparked an interest in what phobias would rate the highest amongst us members. For me I have to say *spiders*!!  I hate them with a passion and don't rightly care what good they are for! When I was in Gr5...many moons ago, a group of boys thought it would be funny to put a bunch (approx. 40) of spiders in a small brown lunch bag, blow the bag up and pop it over my head!! I had spiders stuck in my hair, down my shirt and I was bit 6 times in different areas of my body, mainly the neck, back and chest! Couldn't tell you what kind of spiders they were, all I knew is that I was panicking and absolutely traumatized! To this day, I cannot even look at a spider without shaking and breaking into a cold sweat! I swear, I wish I knew where those boys were today.smashicon smashicon
So, what are the biggest phobias here in BW?? Spiders, rodents, snakes, cats, birds, heights, water? Just curious.

SNAKES, They scare the He!! outta me!! Ican't pinpoint that freudian moment that triggered it, but I know that I FEAR them!! I shake, and start to cry at the mere site of them, an ex of mine had a ball python, and it was all that I could do to look at it through the glass, and I would NOT sleep over for fear that little Willy would get out of his aquarium!! I get shivers just remembering it!!!!!

I voted for something else- I am scared to death to ride with someone who takes off ramps from the highway over the posted speed limit. I actually get sick to my stomach and clutch the "grab bar" over the window, if they drive over 20 mph. I am terrified of rollovers. Most times I prepare myself and close my eyes (not if I'm driving - I'm not that blonde!) till we're off the ramp. If I am driving and go slightly over the limit - I'm okay...but not if anyone else is driving!

Barb

PS - I probably don't need to add the fact that I never go on rollercoasters :(
And Sharon - that spyder story was awful - I hope those boys had their worst phobias happen to them.
And Jenn - I am not crazy about snakes either!

Mine would also be snakes...while camping there was a rattler in my sleeping bag inside my tent...I felt it moving around my legs..as it made no noise we just though it was a regular snake....after pulling the sleeping bag out of the tent and then we heard the sound of its rattler...we began to stomp on the sleeping bag.smashicon smashicon ..only to find a 4ft rattle snake dead inside my sleeping bag...if I even see a snake these day's ...its down for the count as I pass out....prior to this I have had some insidences with snakes that only made my fear in the end worse...

Laurie, the snake hater !!!!

Hmm.. dunno...
I love birds, cats, rodents, heights and water

I am not crazy about spiders or snakes... but don't have a great fear of them. Pet snakes and spiders are ok but not their wild cousins. ;)

Mine is easy. Last year I had to have a CT Scan done for the possiblity of organ donation for my father. I went in the machine and almost lost it. I can not stand small, tigh enclosed spaces or being bound up from head to toe. Just thinking about it gives me the shivers.

I used to be so scared of heights that looking down from a second story window bothered me. Then I joined the Army and learned to rappel. Now I love heights.

I voted other. I absolutely HATE centipedes!!!! All those legs and they move so fast that it freaks me out. If I see one, I freeze and call hubby for fear that it might get me!! In our first apartment we used to have alot of them and these suckers were huge, like they were some kind of scientific experiment gone wrong  My cats used to kill them and eat the legs off of them. We would find just the bodies all curled up and smashed in the morning!!

I'm with Eric on this one! That would drive me crazy!! I don't like snakes or spiders but I don't lose it when I see them. I really don't go too bonkers for anything, but I don't like to be confined. Dh thought it funny once to pin me under the blanket and I screamed bloody murder!

I am willing to bet I have the silliest phobia of all!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely love to garden, love flowers of all types; but if i see even a hint of an earthworm I 'drop trowel and RUN'

they just make shivers run down my spine! My evil sister used to taunt me with them when we were younger, but I have always been just terrified of them.

I practice evasive gardening, see worm close eyes for thirty seconds then its gone
