How and Why did you decide on your boxers name?

Being a huge football fan and more specifically the Ohio State Buckeyes, I had some names in mind before getting my soon to be football watching buddy. I kicked around Brutus, Buckeye, Griffin, and Tressel. When I met him for the first time I knew he was Woody, after Woody Hayes. He had an intense look, very serious at first but then the head tilt and his eyes were saying lets play. He has been the best and with football season approaching the memories will keep coming.

Nice name!!!!! My boyfriend and I are getting a fawn male in December. My bf is also an Ohio State fan, so our boy will be named Boomer "Brutus" Mackey. Boomer - we both chose; Brutus, for Brutus the Buckeye, and my bf's (and my future) last name. Your pup is adorable.

Mackensie is my DH's middle name. He wouldn't let me name any of our children after him, but he agreed to the dog. Her middle name is Sage, which my oldest would have been named had he been a girl
Angus Beckett is named after Angus from AC/DC, and Josh Beckett of the Boston Red Sox.

Journey

My dogs official AKC name is THEO'S STELLAR JOURNEY and we have called her "Journey" since she has been home.

When we lost our boxer Cassie last year, my Mom told me to wait one year to let our other dog Shelby be queen of the house for one year and to give me TIME (I was immediately looking for another boxer within days of losing Cassie).

I lost my Mom this past Father's Day - she had just turned 66

My Moms name was Dorothy and my Dad always called her THEO when he was ready to leave or go somewhere....Stella was the name the breeder gave my pup.

When "Stella" was boarding the plane, I looked at my watch and said to myself "her journey has begun" and that is when I KNEW that was her name...Journey

The name is a tribute to my dear Mom, who was a TRUE boxer lover and Grandma to all my girls.... and she did have a journey the final months of her life (as did we all)

Jenny Buckeye

We named our boxer after our two sons. We got our boxer as empty nesters and had a hard time coming up with a name for her. Then I decided to use our sons names: Jeff and Kenny. Hence, "Je" from Jeff's name and "enny" from Kenny's name and came up with Jenny. Her middle name Buckeye is because both sons graduated from Ohio State. Of all things, our son just married a girl named Jenny.

I named Luger after the German Pistol from WW1 an WW2. I'm in the Aussie army as an armourer and a complete gun nut. LOL so with Boxers being a German breed I had to name him something German and tough so Luger it was. Chivas came to us as a rescue apparently he was shivering a lot when the owners bought him and named him Chivas after the scotch. Our Birman cat is named Revlon because she's such a princess and all cute and fluffy that Karen named her after her fav make-up products LOL.

From Pickles to Simba

We had never had a boxer, but one day I told my husband I'm going to get a boxer puppy and his name is Pickles. This name just came out of nowhere and some people thought that was a crazy name, but this was the rugrats last name and they were cute,but always into something. So the name turned out to be just right. When we lost Pickles and couldn't take the empty house and decided to get another puppy(a boxer of course, because once you go boxer you never go back to anything else) we struggled for weeks over a name. We finally went with Simba, which came from the Lion King movie, because he too was mischievious,always in trouble,but too cute to stay mad long. Also because boxers are so cat like. And we have a new addition soon coming, a female boxer, so Simba will have a lovely little girlfriend. She is only 4 weeks old right now, but even the breeder is calling her by our chosen name ,which could only be Nalla.

Butchie

About six months ago I had a dream that we adopted a third boxer. He was very flashy and his name was Butchie. Buddy (our 5 yr old male) was crazy about him but Precious (our 3 yr old female) . . . not so much. We lost Buddy to cancer in September. We ending up adopting our third boxer a couple weeks later so his name just had to be Butchie. It fits him so well cause he's such a little squatty body!
And Precious . . . well let's just say he's growing on her.
