How and Why did you decide on your boxers name?

There is such a wide range of interesting names here on BW - So how did you come up with and decide to go with the name you gave to your babies ? "Joey" my 8 yr old nephew actually came up with and we liked it and stuck with it. He was so surprised when we told him that we would keep the name. I cant imagine Joey being any thing else other that JOEY. People that dont know me very well think I am talking about a human child when I am taking about him. He is forever my baby no matter how old he is.

I can relate there :)

My BF got Creek as a pup when he was going to college in the North Carolina mountains. He spent LOTS of time outdoors while he was in school. Creek was only 8 weeks old when BF and some friends went kayaking in the creek across the street from his cabin. He got in the water and Creek was on the bank being watched by a friend -- well, she saw BF paddling away and jumped in after him! He fished her out of the water and set her right on the front of his kayak, and off they went! (but not TOO far I'm sure :)) Since then playing in the creek is her favorite thing to do -- so she became a "Creek dog." I'm not really sure if he'd already thought of the name before that incident, or if she actually was "nameless" for a few days.... :) Either way I think it's a cute story.

Caney was already "Caney" before she was born. BF had already come up with it because the creek he lived by in college was "Caney Fork Creek." When Caney puppy came home, our roommate at the time had a boxer as well -- we called her "Fork."

We were on vacation in Orlando and the kids and I were discussion names for our soon to be new puppy. We had 3 names picked but the only one we all agreed on, including dh, was Roxy. We we got back to out condo, we checked our email and the breeder had sent pictures of all 3 pups. He gave them temp names. They were Rocky, Roscoe, and Roxy. The breeder picked the same name that we did. We knew that Roxy was meant to be ours.

BT and Ozzy

Well, let me say first of all that Ozzy already had his name picked out. The breeder I got him from lets her little 5 year old daughter name all the pups in the litter. I saw Ozzy's picture and I knew that I was going to keep his name. The only problem is now everyone thinks I named him after Ozzy Osbourne which is not the case. The rest of his name came down to his appearance. Ozzy has four toenails that are black and the rest are white so his name ended up as Ozzy Four Toes Thompson. The breeder's little daughter also named Vinny and I like that name as well.

spanky came with is name and it truly fits him -we decided he had enough adjusting to do why add a new name to the list, now we cant imagine any other name for him and people get the biggest kick out of it.

Boxer Buddy
The night we brought our sweet little girl home, we were sitting on the floor with her, just throwing names out left, and right. "People" names, silly names, anything you can think of. At the same time hubby and I both said Carmel...and we knew that was it. He said "great minds think alike". Carmel fits her perfectly. My best friends 5 year old has decided Carmel needs a middle name too....we are torn between 'Carmel Corn' and 'Carmel Sundae'.

I'm half Italian so I wanted Italian names for our boxers. Rocco was actually my great-grandpa's name and my dad's middle name. No one can sing an Italian love song like Dean (Dino) Martin, so that's where Dino's name came from.

ChanceAndAce

Boxer Pal
how and why

We got Chance after losing a beautiful fawn baby Roxy to parvo. He has a perfect marking on hi neck that resembles a star, so seeing as we "took a chance" with another pup his name became Chances Rising Star.....Ace was named by his 7 year old owner my skin kid Kelsey.

Rocky's-Mom

After losing our Rocky to cancer....and not being able to live without a boxer we decided on a female this time and we named her Adrian (after Rocky and Adrian in the movie Rocky) actually one of the girls on here came up with the name and ideal....we call her Addy for short!!

It's funny but I can't even remember how Ruben got his name. I think DH must have thought of it.

Zeus was a nameless puppy for two days. DH and I just could not agree on a name. We both wanted a strong name and I really like mythological names so we finally agreed upon Zeus. I wasn't to sure at first but it grew on me.
