How and Why did you decide on your boxers name?

When we picked Minx up, the breeder called her "Teeny". We thought she deserved a prettier name than that, so we just watched her for the first day she was home. We came up with adjectives that described her - pretty, sweet, and mischievious. A little Minx. Her full name is Minx's Sweet Mischief.

I searched for names by how they sounded, uniqueness and their meaning which to me is very important. Kirra means "dark lady' and Torin means 'chief'. My past girl Dakota meant 'friend'. All my boxers have definitely fit their names and certainly live up to their name.

Being a huge football fan and more specifically the Ohio State Buckeyes, I had some names in mind before getting my soon to be football watching buddy. I kicked around Brutus, Buckeye, Griffin, and Tressel. When I met him for the first time I knew he was Woody, after Woody Hayes. He had an intense look, very serious at first but then the head tilt and his eyes were saying lets play. He has been the best and with football season approaching the memories will keep coming.

Our breeder was calling her "tiny", as she was the runt. We knew that name wouldn't fit her. We are musical fanatics in this house as my hubby and 3 kids play clarinet. With her brindle coloring and our love of the instrument, we decided on Clare and her middle name is Annette; so clare-annette!! In addition her name means Bright, which she definitely is!

My two came with their names, and DBF and I both liked the names. Oscar was named for Oscar De La Hoya by his foster mom, and he really looks like an Oscar. Mali was named by her previous owner for Muhammed Ali. I like the concept of the name, but most people who see it wrtten first call her Mally (rhymes with rally), which I dislike, but I doubt if she cares.

Achilles

My boyfriend and I knew we wanted a strong & powerful name and a dog who could live up to it. I thought of Greek heroes and warriors, and he thought of 'Achilles.' The name definitely grew on me, and well, it fits him perftectly!

Baylee

Growing up I had two boxers. They were both B names. So when I finally talked DH into getting a boxer for our family, I knew that she had to have a B name. I also have two daughters so we have lots of Princess stuff around here. So she became Princess Baylee.

Drake our Boxer was named because wife and I were tossing out names and three that stuck out the most were Drake, Maverick and Tito. My wife REALLY liked the name Drake and since i had named our Chihuahua, i let him be Drake, but since i really liked Maverick. We had his AKC name be Master Drake'Maverick so we could incorporate both names.

Our Chihuahua was named because of her color, she is Blue and Tan but the tan is close to Apple Cider and when we were driving to pick her up, we passed by a sign selling Apple Cider and we liked the name Cider becuase it was Unique. the other name we had picked for her was Marvel.

Completely Boxer Crazy
When we got our girl she was 3 months old and her first owners didn't want her any longer. They had a year old girl just walking (and were having marital problems, splitting up, moving back together) and just couldn't deal with a new very active, crazy dog also. They knew that we had recently lost the 2nd of our beloved shepherds and were dogless (for the first time in my life). We talked it over and decided that a quiet, clean, hairless house wasn't all it was cracked up to be and took her. Her name was Dakota, which is a lovely name, but she just didn't seem like a Dakota - too serious. My childhood nickname (to my cousins) was Suzy and sometimes my hubby will tease me "getting a little sassy huh Suzy" After hearing the CCR song "SuzyQ" my hubby said she was just a sassy little SuzyQ and it just fit and still does at 6 years old.
