Boxer Traits

I have to say everyone of the threads that I have read pertain to our two girls. The best is when we get home after a trip to the store(usually about 15minutes)and it's like we were gone for a month. Their little nubs wagging a mile a minute and the kidney-beaning. Our girls always have to bring something to us when we get home. It doesn't matter what it is(toy, sock, remote, whatever they can find). Then if you don't immediately pay attention to them, the let you know by jumping up as if saying "hello I'm right here, where's all my attention?" I never thought a dog could bring us so much happiness, but there is just something about boxers that set them apart from all other breeds.OK I'm a ittle impartial. We've had other breeds and there is nothing like a boxer!

By any chance Marlin, did you get hoss from a breader in Illinois? We bought our Nala from a breadre in Illinois and they had white pup they named Hoss. It is an uncommon name- just wondering. Anyway, our baby lays on her back and chases her tail, she also chases leaves and loves to pay in the dirt. Her most favorite toy is the sprinkler! She just cant figure it out! She woo-woo's and kidney-beans, she loves to jump up on you to greet you, but my favorite thing she does is when she is tried she will lay as close as she possiblt can on you, and she is 52 pounds so she is heavy. But she sleeps right on the pillow next to me, feet all stretched out as far as possible and snores away!

I have 2 boxers, I live in NZ now and we bought one over with us from the UK. My two boxers have very different characters but they both do the boxer sigh, lie on their backs, chase cats and flies, snore, love you and cuddle you, love routine they put themselves to bed at night, they run every day with me and one is 7.5 yrs old. the 7.5yr old does not swim only goes up to her shoudlers but the 3yr old swims and she is hilarious the funniest thing I have ever seen trying to bring the stick back....they give me so much pleasure

No, I did not get Him from there, he was a fawn. Although I am very interested in getting a white boxer!! Eversince I got my first boxer I have wanted a white one. I am currently trying to get a white boxer that is in a Boxer Rescue here in our state, I have filled out the adoption application, have owned boxers for over 10 years now, and in her profile it says she will need to placed in a home with a hearing mate, because she is deaf, and I have a hearing four year old male. We lost his cuddle pal Lady who was Hoss's Sister, at 14 years old, this past summer, so he could use another playpal! They have not gotten back ahold of me and do not return any e-mails, it has been over tw0 months!!, so to say the least-I have pretty much given up faith in rescue organizations!!!

Anyway-does anyone know of any white boxers anywhere around the South Dakota area?

I didn't read every page of traits on here so I don't know if someone else put this or not or if it's even a boxer trait but my Jade (21 months) pounds on the floor with her front paws ending in the play bow when she's playing with my other dog or with us. It's so funny!! Does anyone else's boxer do this?
She pretty much has most of the other traits, my other favorite is jumping straight in the air while running

charlie habits

one of which he's doing right now, shoving his head under my arm, while my hand is on the mouse tryin to click reply and swinging his head and my arm straight up in the air. my dog is jealous of my computer and the time i sit at it. and then we have the "this is my butt prance" where he curls around pointing his nose at his tail and back, he forms a perfect c with his body when he does this, which makes me wonder where his spine is when he does it. he will do this prance on command, just gotta ask him hey...where's yer butt? and we get the this is mah butt dance! jackhammering...absolutely cute unless they are doing this to sofa cushions and eating them once they get them uprooted, the reason for my new...attached cushions furniture! but cute just the same. charlie is also a great fan of wrestling apparently he loves to jump and dangle over a persons shoulders arms just a moving left and right as he growls and shows you his monster ugly look! and then....the laugh....he's a lil show boat.
and The MURF.......the noise used to wake you in the wee hours of the morning or get your attention when you are at your computer.
is it saaaad that when my doggie goes to nap after waking me up ...i also plan my own murf attacks? love mah doggie! but six am is no time to wake a body up only to relocate and fall back to sleep!

Heavy sigh...

I definitely agree with the 'big sighs' comment -- I've never heard another dog huff and puff to get your attention like Deuce does. He likes to shove his nose into the crack of the door and sigh as hard as he can when he gets locked out of a room. Gotta love our boxers :)

Billysmum said:
Same as Cooper, but add to that lying on his front like a frog, ie, with his back legs out flat behind him. Also, in this position he drags himself across the carpet, pulling himself along with his front legs. Big sighs is another trait.

- oh, and not liking to swim, he'll go in as far as he can stand, but WILL NOT swim.

I know exactly what you mean...it's like an old man adjusting his dentures or something. We always ask him if he needs a drink of water when he does it. He usually does it when he's waking up from a nap and stretching.

Both of the males I have owned did the lip smacking noises when they are happy but sleepy. The noise I can't describe it much better than that. But when I say to Tyson "Ohhh Tyson McGoo you are soooo good" he replies with a soft lip smack. Barry did it too (at the bridge now).

Anyone else heard that one?

Colly, Tyson and Sable

also doing 360's in circles (in the air) looking for the flashlight or laser pointer!
