Kidney Beaning on his head
I have a 2 yr old flashy fawn male who exhibits strange behavior when I come home or he is playing. Of course he constantly kidney beans when i come around, but whats funny is he does it while standing on his head. First he curls up, then he pushes the top of his head into me and slides to the floor. He keeps his back legs straight but his head is upside down on the floor. (basically under his legs because he is kidney beaning so furiously) When he plays with other dogs he echibits the same behavior. He starts by boxing a little with the other dog, but then he does a forward roll and tries to throw himself under the other dog. He constantly flops in this manner. Once he is on the ground he is content to stay there, usually play fighting from his back. I call it turtle style. I was wondering if other boxers behave in this fashion?

I laugh when I read what other boxer parents/grandparents write. For a while my family thought we were different and didn't mention the things about our babies to anyone, we thought we were strange to want to kiss their cute little (or big) full-of-expression faces and have them sleep in bed with us (under the) covers, or make special trips to the store for goodies (cause they were good girls). But when I start reading I realize that we are the norm, boxers are too lovable to leave alone. Both of ours (3 yr fawn female, 15 week old brindle female) have the frog dog look when on the floor, they are very verbal as well as speaking with the face, and sighs, grunts and groans. Boxers are VERY, VERY special fourlegged, furbabies, so I guess that makes us (as skin parents/grandparents) very special, too.

odd way of sitting
Anyone notice their dog sitting in a peculiar way like on the back of their rump, butt tucked under them? My girl sits like this alot always leaning against the couch or a chair or my leg giggle. She also runs crab like in circles after a BM, gee she must think she created art. giggle. kidney beaning upon greeting at the door, and foot licking gee she is soooo boxer. I have never loved a dog so deeply as I love this little smoosh faced angel of mine. We are very lucky souls to have such perfectly clownish, genuinely sweet and loving members of our family. May we always have them in our lives.

My brindle baby Copper does alot of the things I've already seen typed. He runs in circles as if he's on fire for no apparent reason. He does the frog thing where he lays on his tummy w/legs flat out in the back. We love to watch him chase insects. When he gets really excited and wants to play he stands up on his hind legs and waves/boxes at his friends and family. Copper actually gets in our pool and swims but I believe he has been influenced by our Choc. Lab Spock. He will sit straight up like a big baby with his but pulled all the way beneath him. He gives boxer kisses and gets so excited that he'll jump up and down and nearly do a summersault. He sleeps in the bed w/my 5 year old and loves to be smothered with blankets and pillow.

Zoe's chewing problem is that she is 7 weeks old. Boxers are powerful chewers and will chew anything and everything (my shoe repair guy loves my dogs, keeps him in MAJOR business!). If it tastes like mom, all the better. Give her LOTS of chew toys. Nyla bones are great and they have some softer versions for littler chewers. Nyla bones also help to keep her teeth clean and plaque free.
When she chews on fingers and toes, make sure you are consistent in telling her "NO." Then give her something appropriate to chew on. When she takes the appropriate toy and chews on it, praise her lavishly—and immediately. Boxers are smart and she will learn quickly; but Boxers are also stubborn, so if you waver and let her chew on you intermittently, she will continue to do so.

She runs around the back garden at top speed and sometimes she runs directly at us and then just swerves at the last minute : D
She hops on two legs !!
She loves to sit on the chair at the window and watch the kids playing on the green.
If she sees a spider on the ground she pounces on it with her two front paws and kinda stamps at it !
When she wants to get my attention she winds in and out between my legs , very cat like i think!!

Hi! Lucy and Landry not only lay on their backs, they think our bed is THEIR bed! We just set up a home office and put a daybed for guests. Well...Lucy and Landry believe this bed is just for them! They run in their sleep. Little front paws just gettin' it! My male grooms my female. Licks her ears etc. Lucy sings WOO WOO WOO WOO if we pet Landry first. If the doorbell rings, they believe it's for them. My female greets you first because she's the fastest. She is just crazy! My male is a little more laid back. But does that really mean anything in the life of a boxer? Does anyone have dogs with hiccups? Ours do that in their sleep sometimes for no apparent reason. Landry steps on Lucy's head (he is a lot taller) to move her out of the way. And, out of all the toys we've bought, they love a tennis ball better than anything.
