Boxer Traits

Boxer Buddy
All of the above

Kira shares many of these traits....especially eating bugs (hence the name Kira Bug). She also likes to do what we call hot laps around the yard, where she wheels as fast as she can around the back yard for a few laps and then want to come in and lay down. She is big into sighing when she does not get her way, and doing anything to manipulate your body or hers for a belly rub!
Summer Salts are another of her things, like today when I got home from work she went outside, ran around a bit, did a summer salt, and then went potty! What a goof! Whatever they do I am sure it will be entertaing!

what about this?

Both of the males I have owned did the lip smacking noises when they are happy but sleepy. The noise I can't describe it much better than that. But when I say to Tyson "Ohhh Tyson McGoo you are soooo good" he replies with a soft lip smack. Barry did it too (at the bridge now).

Anyone else heard that one?

Colly, Tyson and Sable

also doing 360's in circles (in the air) looking for the flashlight or laser pointer!

I have 3 boxers and only my deaf white male, George, does the lip smacking and he does it whenever you feed him. I also refer to him as baby shamu because of the way he opens his mouth whenever you are going to put food into it. All 3 sigh, but Gracie, my flashy (red) female, does it the best and she has the eye expressions to go with it. George also snorts when he eats, earning him the title of "this little piggy." Porter, my flashy (tan) male, sighs when you won't give him a treat and he does it as he's laying down away from you like, "oh well, I guess if you want to give it to me you will." All three know how to make you feel guilty and get the treat anyway. George is also the only one of my boxers who likes to chew ice cubes!

misty and ginger's mom

I have a beautiful Brindle 6yr. old and she has every trait that a Boxer can have (Boxer to the bone!!) The annoying trait that stands out the most would have to be her GAS> But her better traits are how loving and devoted to her family she is!! Wouldn't trade her for a million others! We also just got a 7 wk old fawn female, hopefully she will try to be as wonderful as misty

This was a long thread and I didnt read past the first page but I didnt see it mentioned there. Every Boxer I have ever owned does the prance like a deer. That and the half twist-in-mid-air-at-top-speed. Never seen any other breed be so carefree than a Boxer is when you are out in a big area playing with him/her.

All of the traits I saw mentioned on that first page were common in my boxers as well.

Same here for most "boxer traits". Victor is sometimes, "Victor Wigglebutt", but the kidney bean dance fits! He is a cuddler, too, and gives boxer kisses and hugs when asked. He puts his head over my shoulder and kind of hugs with his chest and neck. He uses his paws as an aid a lot, boxes at toys, and cats....but he just wants to get close to them and lick them and hold onto them. The cats aren't too thrilled with this concept. But the only time he jumps up is when we first come home or anyone visits, but then he just goes straight up, with a wiggle in the air and then straight down. Really funny!

The most wonderful breed

It is clear to me after reading many posts here, along with my own personal experience that the Boxer is unique to the canine world. My husband had never had any experience with one, and he was a little wary when I first picked Victor up. But I had wanted another Boxer for years. My husband thought that Boxers might be "like Pitbulls" with bad reps. He thought at first they looked like a Pit, until he has gotten to know one. Victor is turning out to be better then I ever could have hoped. Call it destiny. My husband recently joked to me, that if we ever had a divorce we would have a fight on our hands for custody of Victor. Even though Victor is "my" dog. Or I am his.
But I am convinced, that anyone who has ever owned one can't help but being won over by this magnificent breed.

Here are Casey Jay's cute moments (she's only 12 weeks old!):

-Following ants and eating them
-Jumping on ants and eating them
-Going after a ball and when it goes on the tile she jumps like a deer to get the ball!
-Runs laps around the house then colapses and begins snoring!
-Freezes upon meeting other dogs
-Uncontrolable butt wiggling upon meeting new people
-Only barks when we make noises with HER toys!
-Won't bite me but nips at my husband and son (actually she doesn't really nip at women -GIRL POWER!)
-Enjoys throwing her toys up in the air and then pouncing after them!
-She a sneezer when on her back too!
-Her cute eyes and stares are heart melting!
-She hiccups and her whole body jiggles!
-Loves to cuddle on the bed!
-Comes when I make "woo woo" noises

Rocky

My dog, Rocky also has alot of the same traits as some of your dogs.

He has really bad gas and he snores really loudly. He also likes to lay on his back, and he will run around the house as fast as he can. It's so funny to watch him.

The gas problem can be greatly reduced if you use a premium food that has no filler and no meat by-products. Science Diet, Eukanuba, etc. are good foods to use. If you give canned food, also make sure they don't have fillers and by-products. I switched my dogs over to a premium food about a year and a half ago and it much more pleasant to be around them (especially in the car when you have to have the windows up). They still do pass gas, but it is so infrequent and the odor is greatly reduced. To me it's worth the extra cost of the food to be able to breathe in the same room with my dogs.
