Boxer Traits

WOW!!!! I LOVE THIS BREED!!!!!!
We have one Boxer named Kolby and another dog that is Golden ret/chocolate lab named Jake he is 13 yrs and Kolby is 3. I must say that I find complete joy and pleasure with both of my dogs, but there is just something special about Kolby. Jake wants love when he needs something or is feeling left out. Kolby on the other hand needs love and attention 24/7. He has all of the traits but one. Lucky us he does not have much gas. Although the kids often try to blame the horrific smells on him. He is sooo wonderful. There are two traits that I just melt over..... When you are laying down and he comes to lay next to you (all the time) he gets his head and snuggles it right behind your ear and pushes so that he can get as close as possible. The other is when it is time to go to bed. He sleeps with my 18yr old EVERY night (actually his dog, he bought and pd for him)but until he gets ready to go to bed Kolby comes to bed with me and my husband. I love it!!!! He sits at my side of the bed waiting for me to get in the covers and then immidiately jumps, licks, licks licks the whole face, sticks head behind ear, pushes and lays down of course with head on pillow. I feel as though I am in heaven!!! When Brandon my son comes to get him to go to his bed, he usually has to call him several times and push on him to get him awake.
Oh yes, and who could forget.... when hubby and I are having our alone time;) he sits at the door sniffing as loud as possible just to let us know he is there!!! Gotta Love'em!!!!!!!

Oh WAIT
I forgot. The whole time my son played high school football, the kids on his team would all get together at the field and play on Sundays after church. Kolby was THE BEST defensive player and offensive player. If you had the ball he was definetly going to catch you, wrap you with his lets and trip you. If he ever got his mouth on the ball he was always able to take it in for the touch down!!!!! Now that Brandon has graduated and living at home to go to college. The two of them still play football together weekly.lovicon

I have one that lies on her back, legs akimbo, completely relaxed. She also does the insane mad chasing around the garden for no reason. It ALWAYS makes me giggle.

The other one is much more refined, he will only sleep on his front and has never had imaginary chasing matchs. He never has what I call 'rabbit dreams' either though she does.

On the gas thing, I had terrible trouble with them when I tried to change their food - it was a hugely long journey getting the other food - BIG mistake. The gas was so bad on occasion that I was driven out of the house to get some air. I could TASTE the stink.
Swiftly went back to the other food and although I sometimes hear exudations now, no smells!

the last word

When I was a kid(long time ago)we had a brindle,Jasper, who always had to have the last word.If he was naughty,my Dad would tell him to get to his bed,so he would slink off,lie on his bed and speak,it was if he said'won't'Dad would say Quiet!,won't.Shut up!,won't.Enough now silence. Then 10 seconds later...won't!!!:D :D

Oh yes, the full body lean - sounds familiar and the belly prop! I just love hearing that they are all the same.

The constant licking and how about this one.....

nudging your hand when you are sitting so that it lands on the top of her head and you might be tempted to stroke it! Wonderful.

Sighs and wowls and giving you the whites of her eyes when she feels neglected or has done something wrong.

Licking the water off the shower curtain although there is a gallon of cool fresh water in the hall!

You make a sudden move and she thinks it playtime - you get the crouch and the silliness

Woo Woo Song??

My boxers do all the stuff talked about. Jumping, running, somersaults, running for no reason at all, gassy, snorting, signing and the looks that make you melt. I don't understand the Woo Woo song. My big baby boy makes this noise like Chewbacka from Star Wars sometimes. We think we named him wrong. He really sounds like Chewbacka it is funny. Is that what the woo woo song is???? I am curious. They are so funny and cute. Sometimes we just watch them instead of anything else. :) :D

Thanks mine does that all the time. It is so cute. Our little girl boxer doesn't do that though. She barks like a hound dog though. If I didn't see just heard her i would think she is a hound dog with a loud vibrating sound and howling bark. Tank loves doing the song and does it all the time. He is so precious. He is so big but so sweet and sensitive. I liked the picture of your baby he looks sweet.
Thanks
Laura

baby boxer trait

Dexter is starting to develop all the traits....my favorite though and I thought it was kind of unique was he sits on all the heater vents in the house to get warm. His favorite spot is underneath the hall tree which creates a heat tunnell with the vent right next to it! While he can still fit under there anyway!:D
