Boxer Buddy
woo woo song

The woo woo song as I can best describe it is the Boxer's way of howling. I will try and get a picture of mine when he does it. I'm sure most boxers out there do it.

The 1st time I noticed him doing it was when I was playing with the ringtones on my phone. Suddenly Apolo erects his head straight up in the air and starts woo.. woo... woo

It seems different sounds that we can't hear they do and some how interpret into something?

Try experimenting with your phone and doorbells. I'm trying to get mine to do it on command (sing)

When your boxer bends in half so his/her butt is touching their head usually as a result of extreme excitement. It resembles the bent shape of a kidney bean.

boxer hugs

Beasley loves to give hugs! lovicon I'm 4'11" so I get hugs from the 'double-shake' position and my BF is 6'3" so he gets hugs from the 'up' position. Beasley's a champion cuddler but not much of a smoocher. He doesn't really like toys (what's up with that??) but loves to run (with his slobbery chops flapping in the breeze) and hurdle the neighbor's hedges. I love when we're in the car and I'll look in the rear view mirror only to see Beasley craning his neck like E.T. so he can see where we're going. He's so silly! foolicon

Samson_dad, I can relate to your boy's reluctance to go outisde when the weather is bad. Beasley won't walk out of the garage if it's raining and will literally stand sideways and lift his leg so that he can pee OUT into the driveway while under the shelter of the little overhang on the front of the house. What a wimp! :p

This thread is too funny! My 6 month old, Roxy, does ALL of this stuff. The funniest is when she throws her toys around and chases after them. It never fails-every Sunday when I dust I find one or two toys on top of the entertainment center that she's thrown up there! She's also a good bathroom companion-always there when I don't need her  She has gas constantly and always burps in my face! When she gets a new rawhide toy she has to chase it around the house first like she's a cat-only then can she chew it up. I guess she likes to play with her prey first :D She always falls asleep on her back, snoring away, but in the morning I find her all tucked up next to me with her head on my shoulder. She likes to think she's independent but in her sleep I guess she needs me. One thing that I'm not sure was mentioned is people watching. Roxy will sit out on the balcony and just watch people for hours. Everytime she's sees someone her little stub of a tail starts wagging and when they're out of sight she'll wait for the next person to come along and do the same thing-it's hilarious! Silly boxers!

its amazing! until you speak to everyone you think your baby is the only one doing these crazy things! She is so funny with her chewy sticks, just throws them so high and then chases them all over the house! If she hears dogs on the tv she talks back and wags her little stub

My 3 month old puppy sits in front of the glass cabinet that holds the entertaiment system when she sees her self in the glass she starts to growl and wag her tail at the same time, then she backs up and then approachs slowly until shes nose to nose with the glass then she barks 3 times and walks away. It hilarious, she does it every evening without fail. When she sees herself in a mirror SHES NOT INTERESTED!!!!!!!!

apollo seems to do all of the same things that everyone else does, except for the kidney beans. But I have seen my sister's boxer do it. Apollo loves running laps around the house for no reason. He just jumps over anything that gets in his way, like the couch:D It's amazing how he doesn't even like being a room away from me. He's my new tail. Even when we're going downstairs or upstairs. He takes a few steps and then stops to make sure I"m right behind him. And another thing I've noticed him and his brother do alot is have his back legs on the couch or the third step and his front part just standing there. And they just seems as comfortable as can be like that. They are such an entertaining breed.:p

Jake's woowoo song sounds more like a Wookie! When other dogs are near, I swear he's trying out for a role in the Final Star Wars movie.

-under-cover sleeping
-heavy head on the lapp at all times
-using their paws like hands to keep the shower door from closing so that they too can take a shower. Then giving you a look like "Hey, remember me? I like the shower too, you know!"
-full body leans into your legs while you rub them down
-pouncing stance (front legs flat and extended forwars and outwards on the floor, while their butt is still high in the air)
-kisses, kisses, kisses and OMG, more kisses.
-big sigh and guilt trips

I have a question. I have now had my first boxer now for about three months and I keep hearing the expression "kidney beaning". What exactly does that mean? Just curious cause it doesn't sound very pleasant.
