Boxer Traits

I started reading this thread way before I brought Laila home. I couldn't wait to see if she would really do the things listed here. My gosh does she ever!

My favorite is definately the kidney beaning, but there is also, the heavy head, the big sigh, gas, not wanting to go out in the rain or on wet grass, lying on her back, "boxing" with her paws, and on and on. I'm still waiting on the woo woo song. I hope she eventually does that! :D

Jill,

Be careful what you wish for! One of my girls does the "woo-woo" song over and over and over.........you get the point:p ! I don't know about anyone elses dog, but does any body have a barking problem? Ginger will bark at me and jump on me until I throw the toy. I love her so much, but it gets annoying at times. When I come home from work, she immediately picks up one of her squeaky toys and squeaks it at me until I just cant stand it anymore.

All of the above...gotta mention the gas thing again...one more trait that our little girl has is to pout when she has been into something she knows she isn't supposed to be in. She will sit with her back to us and look over her shoulder at us with those raised eyebrows as if to ask "Is it okay now?"
She never sits like this long, because we can't help but to give her some loving.

LoveMyBoxers,

LOL - I'm sure you're right. I've been trying to stop myself from wondering what she's going to look like when she gets older & wishing she would get bigger fast. :) Still can't help but wonder what that woo woo song sounds like though.

And yes, she does bark alot, mostly to get attention when she wants to play. In fact today we took her to PetSmart & she barked louder than all the other boxers there (it was boxer day!). She thought she was the biggest dog out there. :D

Not related to the dogs at all, although Kiara does everything you guys have mentioned!............... under your usernames, how do you put the pictures of your dogs in?

traits

I think it is so funny to read these traits! Bodie is quite the character and it makes me want another boxer so bad!

He too as I read likes to work on his toys until he gets to the stuffing and then spreads it out or tries to eat it!

Likes to put everything in his mouth in the back yard! Even his own poo! Yuck!

Gets your attention by whining or slapping your arm with his paw. If watching t.v. he paws at the remote.

He is not very destructive, but if I ignore him for too long reading a book and then set my book down he only pulls out the book mark and eats it! I used to think he hid them but I've still never found one!

We have tiled floors and if the water bowl gets empty, he either scratches at the floor in or his bowl!

When hungry he sits/lays in front of the pantry facing it and won't turn to look at you!

Loves to play with toys all the time! As a matter of fact, since he always has a toy in his mouth running around, one day I didn't discover he had one stuck to his jowls until he sat in front of me crying! The ball had split open and it had a hole in the top which his chewing it suction his jowls into the opening and then they swelled up! We paid a pretty penny that AM to have the vet put him out and cut it out of his mouth!

There are so many funny things that I could go on but one thing he does that I haven't read here yet or I missed is that Bodie can be on his hind legs with just the upper half of his body resting on couch/bed forever! He always sits like that. He won't get all the way up on the furniture but will sprawl the top half of his body up on the couch for hours. Does anybody else's boxer do this?

Wow, I've seen Cruiser "hide" things in his big old jowls, but never had anything stuck that we couldn't pry out! Great story!

Cruiser ATTACKS the broom when we sweep the floor, and when we vacuum, there is nothing he likes more than to bite the end of the hose and have his lips sucked up into the vacuum. And when I get on the treadmill, he goes after it like there's no tomorrow.

A question was asked earlier concerning the energy level of the "Rhino Boxers" that some of us have. I can only say that Cruiser, at a year and a half and 100 pounds, has every bit of the energy of his two smaller companions, a curr and a German Shepherd.

Oh by the way, he is also a popcorn fanatic. When we make popcorn on Friday nights to eat while we watch "Monk," he makes sure we share with him. As soon as he hears it being poured into the skillet, he starts running around with excitement.

And I thought my boy Oscar was the only dog in the world that liked having his lips sucked into the vacuum. :D
I have to be careful, because I am afraid it will hurt him, but his seems to really like it. I think it is so funny.
Oscar and Chloe don't get their front half on the couch and their back half on the floor. They do just the opposite. They will get off of the couch by stretching out real long and have their front paws on the floor and the entire backside is still on the couch. Sometimes, they will just hang out in that position. It is very funny. :D

Cool!! I didn't know about the bread thing until the last couple of posts. I just adopted a 2 year old fawn (Bo) and the first time I left her alone at home, I came back to an empty bag of hot dog buns, with the box of cookies untouched on the counter. My pugs don't touch bread unless there's meat in them, so I was wondering what happened!!

I've only had Bo for 2 months but have noticed almost all the 'typical' Boxer traits already. I have had toy breeds all my life and have not gotten used to being knocked over yet. There's a lightspeed pug/boxer train that goes around the house once in a while and the caboose (Bo) sent me sliding down my tile floor tonight.

Hope all Boxers are safe, warm and snoring tonight!!
