The similarites crack me up!!!

as a new Boxwer owner (of Layla! 3 mnths) we have found that she has very specific traits. I have been laughing so hard at the posts because Layla does the SAME THING!! But what about hiccups??? she gets hiccups a lot!!! some fast, some slower...but shes like us in so many ways - i get hiccups all the time!!

Unlike other boxers??!!!??
-Hiccups... all the time! at least once a day (esp. when hungry!)
- Has a dirty habit of eating CAT FOOD!! - she knows she cant, but she cant resist!
-Has a nervous habit of being left alone, and doing crazy things (she usually gets what we call "wet neck" in her kennel; in her bed, i think she either chews it or drools while playing with a toy but when we let her out, her neck is soaked! also - we left her in the bathroom when her kennel was at his dad's and she WRECKED my bathroom, got on the counter and it looked like a tornado went through there!!!!)
- Gives small animals "the trap" - my mom has a Pom. and Layla will get on top of Foxie so she cant move! and Layla will stand there, like a bully!!
- Dislikes water (she will not go on the grass to pee when its raining, prissy!)

Like other boxers:
-KIDNEY BEAN!!! I love the name! I though she was shy, i called it shy girl
- GAS - lol, she rips 'em all the time!
- Love to play with cats! - she'd rather harass a cat ANYDAY
- snores, grunts, boxer sigh
- digs holes, hangs out the window
- boxer "woo-woo"
- chewbacca
- drinks water like its goin' outta style
- jack hammer
- shake n kill
- heavy head...also twists her head around and sleeps..looks like her neck is contorted!
- Lickety lick - all the time!!!
hmmm, thats all i can think of now...
but are hiccups common??
:)

You can add those all to the boxer trait list! Kit hiccups all the time, and hates going out in the rain. She loves baths though... maybe its the fact that their usual potty place is all weird and different at that time. She eats cat food every chance she gets (but I think all dogs do this because of the high protein amounts in cat food- its appealing to dogs), will try and sneak into the litter bos to chow down, although she is listening to "no" or "leave it" a lot better in that situation now... The "trap" as you called it, she also does with the cats, she will just walk around standing over them, and barks at them too.

Seems like a perfectly normal boxer brat!

Heres something that Rock does that I have never seen, He has one of those thick rubber mud tires on a knotted rope (forget what its called) and he has a stuffed cow (not much stuffing anymore!!), well first he lays the cow down than go's and gets the tire, he lays the tire down on top of the stuffed cow and than pulls it half way thru the tire!! than he carrys it around the house from the rope with the cow hanging halfway thru !!! like to say "look what I did"

My Boxer Is A CLEAN FREAK

Well here's a new "Boxer Trait"!

My 2 year old female Boxer has decided, that among all of her other self-appointed duties around our home and yard AND town, she is now responsible for alerting us to any foreign objects lying on our floors or rugs. She will stand over the "offending object", raise her front leg up ceremoniously, curve the toes on her paw so that it looks like a cat's paw and then pump this paw up and down over the object until we pick it up and dispose of it. Now to her, "offending objects" can be anything from a dried up old leaf that blew in the door, to a dead bug, dust bunny or tuft of cat hair...amazing!

Our relatives are beginning to get "creeped out" by our Boxer, saying are you sure she is really a "dog" and "how did you teach her to do THAT!?"

Thing is...she creates new jobs for herself all the time. She certainly qualifies as a "Working Dog".

Her vocabulary, that she has created so far: OOOoooddd for Food, wah were for Water and why wuv woo for I Love You.

If I try and open the front door before I ask "who's there?", she will block me from getting to the door. If I ask the necessary question first, she backs up to a spot several feet away, sits down and lets me open the door, no problem.

What a girl! She's our HERO!

Meko has this thing where every morning or whenever one of us comes home, he finds the nearest toy and just dances around with it in his mouth as if to say 'Look what I can do'. Never fails. Every morning. Every day when someone gets home from work. Every time he's let out of his crate. He also 'rescues' all his toys from the crate as soon as he gets out. Too cute. Lastly, he's a big helper with carrying things upstairs. Anything small that you may have in your hand while trying to go upstairs, he'll almost knock you down in order to carry it for you! What a ham!!

my 6 month old is learning to be a lap dog, if you are on the floor, he'll sit right next to you and slowly lean his way onto you. :) I've also noticed that in crate training him we leave his toy alligator in with him...when we come home and I go to let him out, he comes out all wiggles, will go outside, play a little with us and then goes back to his crate as to "rescue" his alligator. It's the most precious thing ever! I love our boxer baby!

'Ol Roy

Walmart 'Ol Roy lamb and rice dry food. I experienced extreme gas with my other baby, Jake, when we mixed canned and dry food. As soon as I stopped the canned stuff, the gas decreased, but didn't stop completely.

A long time ago I had a black lab that I fed 'Ol Roy to and her gas problems and HORRID smelling poo was too much... I had to take her off that mess and she was fine after that... She didn't even have gas anymore... I know Labs and Boxers are different, but maybe you could check into that part of your baby's diet too... Just a thought...

Buster and Daisy

Boxer Traits ... My two babies do kidney beans, jackhammers, Buster woo woos and goes off on long soliloquies also drools a lot specially when I am eating something he likes. Daisy gives hugs - she stands on her back legs and hugs me around the waist moving her head back and forth - she also plays with toys by herself - throwing them and chasing them. They both like musical baby toys and can usually figure out how to wind them pretty easily (the ones with pull strings) They are meticulous about cleaning themselves. They are also my cat police. When I scold one of the cats they are ever ready to enforce - they never hurt them - just chase them around a little bit. They are both cuddlers and love to have their bellies rubbed. They are uncropped and they say yes by shaking their heads to make their ears slap around. Buster is very empathic with me - anytime I am feeling down he comes up and starts kissing and nuzzling me to cheer me up. Who needs Prozac when you can have Boxers?
