Catfish is lucky to have a mommy like you, Jessie! Keep positive about the chemo. You know how much our "kids" feed off of our moods. Keep the faith and positive outlook even when it's hard because it will help Catfish stay strong!

This really is a devastating thing and it seems like it happened so fast with you (as it did with us). My vet actually told us that since January, he's had to do at least 7 amputations because of osteosarcoma.

Thanks for your insight!

That is the same cancer Rocky had and we chose not to amputate and he lived 13 months after diagnosis so hang in there and my prayers are with you.

Hi all -

Just a quick update on Catty. We took him to Bull Creek this weekend where they have a leash-free dog park and a shallow running creek, and he had a BLAST! He chased squirrels, played in the water, and made a few new friends. I took some pics, but they seem to be too big to download to the site.

The tumors that started popping up on under his skin are growing slightly, even after the first chemo treatment, but we're still fighting it with all our power! Thanks again for all the prayers as we battle such a nasty disease. You have all been so wonderful!

Hi everyone -
I just wanted to give a quick update on Catfish. He went in yesterday for his second chemo treatment, but the oncologist called me first before administering. She said it's pretty obvious the first round/drug didn't work, and she wanted to discuss other options with me. It looks like his Ostreosarcoma is much more aggressive than we hoped. The lumps continue to grow an new ones show up all the time. I can either make sure his heart is strong enough (he has a murmur) and do a different chemo drug with strong side effects, or I can just keep him here with me to ride our time together.

I thought that I would be somewhat more prepared to deal with this knowing the condition he has, but it's 1000% tougher than I imagined. I keep wondering "is today going to be the day? How is he feeling? Is he hurting but not letting me know?"

Does anyone have any advise on the chemo drug Doxarubacin? I'm torn on whether to try another round and hope for the best, or whether I should just ride it out with him. My heart is breaking so badly, but I want to do what's best for Catfish.

Thanks again to all of you for your support through this tough time -- it really, really has helped me out.

Lots of love from Jessie and Catfish

Oh Jessie, I am so sorry to hear the first round didn't work. I was wondering how Catfish was doing.

I don't have any advise about the chemo drug, but hang in there. It is obvious to see how much you love your boy, whatever decision you make will be the best one for you and him both. Truly my heart is breaking for you.

Please keep us posted on your sweet boy! Lots of love to you and Catfish from me and Mindy!
