El Duke

Boxer Buddy
My son Duke is scared of skateboarders. Everytime they go by he hides behind me or my boyfriend. One time, the three of us were outside and a boy rode by very fast on his skateboard and all we saw was Duke running away as fast as he could trying to get inside the house. The only problem was the security door was not open and he ran into it. Poor Thing.

Well, how do I put this....everything. Well, I suppose that's a bit of an exaggeration now. It wasn't when we first adopted her though. Everything from cupboards to linoleum to toilets scared our little girl. Now her fear is basically focused on ANYTHING and EVERYTHING NOVEL...especially people she doesn't know. That's the big one, and definately the hardest for us to help her overcome.

Layla is a rescue and she is a very timid and anxious little thing. We are working very hard to habituate her to life in general, and slowly but surely she's coming around, but my oh my, it is hard work and it is so sad to think of the way she's feeling inside. I hope one day she will be truely fear-free :)

New phobia

I posted earlier that Memphis is afraid of plastic bags...well for Valentine's Day my boyfriend got me flowers with 2 balloons. I tied them to one of the chairs in my kitchen....well everytime Memphis catches them out of the corner of her eye, she hunches down and in a very low tone...growls at them!!! It is sooo funny!!! I tried to bring the balloons to her to show her that they wouldn't hurt her, but she ran to daddy and hid:rolleyes:

My oldest boy is scared of balloons. I cant figure out why but we cant even bring a balloon in the house with out him running off like a little baby. He's not scared of anything else that I know of. In fact he acts like he is not scared of anything most of the time. But dont let him see a balloon he just freaks.

harley is also afraid of balloons

he barks and growls at them for hours. drove us all nuts one morning. we thought he was just playing, so we picked one up and tossed it at him, and he ran and hid under the table.

he always runs to the for sale signs on the house and barks at the balloons there, keeping his distance. he has to go out on a leash because he wont relieve himself otherwise, hes too busy barking

Tucker is mortified of the vacuum cleaner. Last time I vacuumed with him in the house, he dragged a blanket with him and hid in the furthest most spot in the houseand shook. Now I have hubby walk him everytime I clean.

This is just too funny. I just got the BF a stuffed monkey for V-Day. It has crazy fur/hair, vibrates & makes a loud noise when you touch it's hand. Boy is Laila afraid of that thing. He sat it on the floor & she wouldn't even walk near it.

She's also afraid of the tape measure. I have no idea why. Whenever I try to measure anything, including her, she takes off running. She, like many others, also barks like crazy at the broom, vacumn & hairdryer, but I don't think she's afraid of them.
