Baxter is also afraid of the garbage bags. When you shake one open, he runs. As for the vacuum cleaner, he thinks its a big toy to chase...go figure!!
When we are out walking he is afraid of BIG trucks and is cautious of the storm drains. The laundry basket....but only if it is sitting in a certain spot, he knocked it over when he was really little and scared himself silly.

OMG - you guys are going to love this one!!!

Trixxie is afraid of my hair clip!!! It's one of those with big teeth and about 3-4 inches long. One evening DH and I were lying on the floor watching TV, and I took the clip out of my hair and tossed it aside. Trixxie looked at it and FREAKED!!! Well, then the game was on!!! DH picked it up, snapped it at her, and she went crazy! Then he snapped it and let it loose, so it went towards her and, I swear, she jumped four feet in the air to get away from it!!! She ran around barking at it, and wouldn't get within two feet of it!!! DH snapped it at her again and the same thing happened - "frog dog" jumped straight up and back - honestly - four feet up!!!

We got about 45 minutes entertainment out of that one! Finally I had to put it on the mantle over the fireplace so she would settle down!

The other things, just like many others, is the vaccume and hair dryer. I think Trixxie believes they are attacking me, and she feels it's her duty to protect me - so she is on the warpath with either one - attacking and barking - trying to release me from these EVIL machines grasp!!!

I love my little girl - what a goof!

Windsor's love/hate relationships

It's hard to tell if Windsor loves or hates somethings....
He loves to chase the vacum cleaner, he HATES bicycles, isn't too fond of umbrellas (he's a little suspicious of them), and LOVES to play with balloons, loves to play with other dogs and any toy that makes a noise.
If there is an unexpected noise behind him, he'll try to high tail it out of there as fast as he can! The poor guy was practicing for the canine good citizen test, and in class, we were to call our dogs to us and as soon as they started in our direction, everyone else in the class was supposed to make a lot of noise, stomp on the ground etc (kind of mean!). My Windsor was the first to do this exercise in class, so when the noises started, his floppy ears went straight back and he bolted! So much for the fearless boxer (poor guy)!

Again, like alot of the others, Sophie is terrified of the wooden baby gate. I never fit it in the doorway, just prop it and one time she was playing and knocked it over, making a loud noise, and she peed all the way across the kitchen. She could nudge it and go around if she wasn't scared, so I guess it's not a bad thing. She nudges other doors in our home and goes right through. And then any loud sudden noises will startle her and she will do the jump, half circle thing, eyes wide open. But other than that, she fears nothing.

Toffee does pretty well.... but she doesn't like really loud noises if she's close to them--like the band at a parade or the firetrucks at a parade if she's right at the street edge watching. She also doesn't like dump trucks--I think because one time when I was walking her down the road one came by and sprayed us with a bit with gravel :(
Oh, and she isn't fond of the sunglasses & hat combination someone else mentioned. Someone came into the show office like that once and she growled until the hat & glasses came off. I think it's mostly the sunglasses, but she's fine if they're on someone she knows well (like me).

Jackson isn't scared of a single thing. I mean I can spook him if comes around a corner and I scare him, but otherwise, nothing. He doesn't like the vaccuum, he barks at it and tries to attack it.

Autumn our rescue is afraid of almost everyone new. Most people that have met her several times she remembers and usually likes them. Usually it is men she is afraid of.

Diesel is afraid of everything that cant hurt him and not afraid of everything that can hurt him. He runs and hides from anything that makes a noise; plastic bags, ballons, cereal boxes, etc. He is not scared of and chases vaccums, mowers (although he keeps his distance), blow dryer. If anything makes a noise while he is sleeping, he tears through the house till he finds my wife and jumps in her lap like a little kid. Then he slowly creeps back to where he was sleeping to try and find what it was that made the noise. It is very funny.
