My last male boxer was named Argus

It comes from Greek mythology. If I remember correctly Argus was a watchdog with 100 eyes. I think the story goes something like this....Hera and Zeus were a couple. Hera became jealous of Io because she and Zeus were too friendly, so she turned Io into a cow and put Argus there to watch and make sure Zeus didn't go see her anymore. Someone ended up killing Argus and his eyes were cast out on a peacock...that's why the feathers look like they have eyes....anyway, that's what I remember of the story. I always though Argus would be a cool name for a Boxer.

Mythological names

Argus. . . I like that. We name all of our animals mythological god names. Aries the cat, Odin the boxer, Poseidon the frog. For Odin, it was a toss-up between Osirus, Anubis, and Odin. Odin just seemed easier to say. I kinda wanted Thor, but DH said that name was "so yesterday". :o)

We named our girl, Dutch

Our 12 week old fawn black masked floppy docked is named Dutch, after Ronald Reagan... one of her brothers was named George after George Foreman. Turns our their father was named Dutchman something-or-other, but they had a nickname for him. I thought that was funny. Anyhow, we love our Dutch, we call her Dutchie, or if she's being prissy, Dutchess or Oro Valley, as that is where we live! :)

My dogs name

I have a two year old male flashy fawn. I was thinking about naming him Ditka after Mike Ditka. (short two syllabel name with hard sounds is considered the best cadence) I wasn't sure if I was going to name him that or not, feeling that maybe it was too cheesy but once I saw his papers and learned his fathers name was Butkus the deal was done. I have been very happy with the selection, although sometimes little kids mishear what I am saying.
