Tattoos?

My mom is the reason I got mine! LOL My mom has always wanted a tat, I was always more into piercings. So finally I gave in and said "ok, if you get one, I'll get one too". She says "I want 4!" :eek:
I started looking around at designs and symbols of things I was interested in, my life, etc. I found mine and waited and she stalled and so I just went and got mine. Now I have another one and she STILL hasn't gotten her's! I assure her the pain is way less that she thinks it's going to be (my theory is the 2nd hurts more because you think, well, the 1st wasn't so bad), but she still won't commit- and now I'm addicted!

Take her with you and ask the artist to do a line of water so she can feel what it is like. Then she can decide if she can take it for the 20 minutes or hour what ever it take to git-r-done!!!

I LOVE tattoos! If I were old enough and I had enough money I would get one straight away! However I am making the time go by faster by desiging it in advance.

I have two piercings so far though. I'm getting more, but I only just turned old enough to get a piercing without parental consent (16, at my studio) - my parents know about all my piercings but it is really difficult to drag them downtown to sign the forms. Now I am free! HAHAHA! I have one nose piercing and a really cool cartilage piercing (called a conch, for anyone who knows what that means). I want to get my nipples done and possibly some more ear piercings (there are so many beautiful ones that I just don't know what to choose!) I'm trying really hard to come up with some more piercings to do in celebration of my birthday, but I can't think of any ... I have the itch!

I also started stretching my ears a while ago. I got to 8g, but now I need a taper which I haven't gotten around to finding. I have all of the jewellery up to 2g, but no tapers! How dumb was that? I've been at 8g for about 4 months and I'm getting antsy to stretch!

So yeah, very little of this post is about tattoos, but tattoos and piercings sort of go together and there isn't any special piercing thread (in case I missed it...) Oh well :D!

I have two tattoos at the moment. I have a chinese symbol on my right hip bone and a fairy on my left hipbone. After I get married (in december) I am getting two more on my shoulder blades and another on my lower back. I am totally addicted to them! My fiance has one down his back, up his left shoulder and down his left bicep. He has chinese writing on the back of his right bicep, his dogtags and flames on his left pec and one on the back of his right calf. So needless to say we are fond of tatts!

Ok so, I have 2 tattoos. I said after my frist one i wouldnt get another one...but I said that with my piercings..and well.. I have 11 of those. I have a black shooting star on my shoulder blade (my 1st one) and a red and black nautical star on my hip. My nautical star was so hard to heal because 1) my pants kept rubbing against it no matter hw hard i tried not to 2)I got it this summer and Im a dance teacher so I was doing stretches every day etc.

My nautical star did bleed a lot, it actually oozed quite a bit too (gross i know ) but that was from my pants rubbing it constantly.

Im already planning my next one. Its either going to be on my ribcage or its going to be a "tramp stamp" . I dont know what Id get on my ribcage.. I want it to be something not so cliche...but i cant draw so I cant design my own. As for the lower back one, I want it to be either solid black, red or blue or a mix of the three and something sort of "viney" i guess it would be called--just a design.

All of mine can be hidden if i want them to be which is why my parents dont complain too much about them.

Sara-- I havent seen tapers anywhere..have you tried using expanders? I got mine gauged by my piercer up to about 10g then just wore heavy jewellery which stretch them mor ethen I just used expanders to go the rest o fthe way. Ive since let them close over though...but im getting the itch to go back up.

As for nipple rings..i recommend if you do, get them done with a barbell. A bit harder to clea nbut i found when i got them done the first tome with rings, the rings would flip up and stretch every which way when i was sleeping and it made healing them really hard

I have 2 tats!! I just love them and my husband hates them!! I live in the ONLY state that is is illeagle(sp) to get the done in! My 1st one I got at the Queen of Hearts in Nashville TN with a friend of mine who had gotten her 1st and 2nd done there and then i went with her and i got my 1st and she got her 3dr. My first is on my ankle and its a Greatful Dead bear and my 2nd is on my lower back and it is a Celtic knot that is green and has sunflowers. Also because my Mom died of Breast Cancer I have a Pink Ribbon above my Celtic Knot...I just got the one on my back this Jan. when I was home and my best friend who is in her 40's said..."hey, I want to get a tat...would you go with me?" I said sure I'll get one Too!!! She didn't get to see mine until I was home in August because the shop was running a little behind and mine was bigger then hers...They both look great!!! I wnated to have more added to my back one this time, however dh is not fond of tats and would have been upset again!! I really think that he need to get over it!!

Amanda-I think it may be illegal in Utah as well?

It does suck though - I drove to Ft. Worth to get mine done at Fantasy Tattoos. It was the only place that I'd heard of, so I got them there, but have since learned that they aren't that great!?! Who knew...like I said, I'm happy with my back, but not my hip (though I think it was the healing process that messed it up not the tattooing itself). I did my back piece in 2 parts, and when I went back to have the sides put on, they touched up the middle (a shamrock) again. It was really weird though, when I went back to have my hip done, they wanted to look at my back - after they retouched it, then entire design became raised so you can feel the design when you touch it. Anyway, they told me that the tattoo artist that had done it (who had since been fired) had gone too deep w/ the needle and had caused there to be scar tissue under the design. They were all upset about it, but its one of the reasons I love it so much! They said I better love it b/c it can't ever be lasered off now!?! Don't know how true that is? Someone mentioned that their husband was a tattoo artist - can you ask him if that's true? I just don't want to have my hip touched up if that is true, b/c I'm not sure how fond I am of it???

Hi Erin, I asked my husabnd about your tatt and he said if it is that deep chances of laser removal are slim to none. Laser treatment is most effective on blue black and red inks, Green and yellow being the hardest to break down. What also matters a lot in laser removal is how far the depth of the tatt went and with you saying you can feel it chances are laser wouldnt help. The tatt you want to have touched up is already the one with the scar tissue damage? I don't know if any of this helps but if ya need anything else answered feel free to ask! =)

i have 3 tattoos and getting a fouth. i have a flower on my chest, a unicorn on my hip and a flower ankle bracelet on my ankle in having a pegaseus done on my back always wanted one just never found the right one that caught my eye. my brother had 17 when he passed away but he would travel to different states to have them done by places he heard where well known, had a gorgeous one done in venice beach(dont know the name of the place) left friday came home sunday wish i could do that.

I'm sure my piercing studio must have tapers. If they don't they can order in for me, or I can order them online. I thought that if you just wait a long enough time between stretches you could do it without a taper, but I've been at the same guage for 4 months and I still can't get a 6g in! I think I'm might just use the good old tape technique, I doubt I'm going to be downtown anytime soon and I'm starting to get impatient. Did you have any problems shrinking back down? I stretched one of my lobes to 12g about a month ago and took it out, and then it shrank down to about 16g without any problems. D'you think this means that I won't have any problem shrinking back down later on?

I've decided on a barbell for my nipples too, I got my cartilage and my nose done with rings and they were nothing but trouble from the start. Then I pop in a stud and all is peachy. So with such a scary piercing I want it to go as easily as possible. Plus BB's are less noticable than rings, which is good because I don't plan on telling my parents. Did you notice that they were really hard to clean? I'm a bit worried about that.

Sarah, the only problem I had cleaning wise was that i couldnt turn the barbells through like i could with the rings. At least with the rings i could get them all soapy and turn them to make sure it was all clean. Also with the barbells at first I found it a little more painful to clean in the beginning but as long as you get a barbell that leaves enough room for swelling, you should be fine.

As for gauging, I was told if you go any higher than a 2 gauge..your holes will never shrink. That being said, mine were up to either a 4 or 2 and it took them about a month to shrink to what they are now, and even now I can still fit a regular 14 and 12g rings in them no problem, so I dont think theyll comepletely shrink back down. BUT dermal punching to that gauge is a whole other story. A friend of a friend got his conches dermal punched at a 4g....and they will permanently be there. If you go to your piercer, Im sure theyd have no problem tapering them for you, I got mine tapered at first by my piercer then I just did expanders. My bf got his tapered by our piercer from a 12g to a 6. He also got his lip tapered instead of just repiercing it.
