Tattoos?

I have three tats. One on my shoulder to memorialize my nephew who passed away 8 years ago, a dolphin on my hip that I plan to have covered with a pic of my dogs because I hate it and it's faded, and a tribal design on my lower back which is my favorite one. I was surprised to read that people had a lot of pain from the lower back tats. Mine didn't really hurt at all back there. Now, the one on my hip, I thought I would never make it through it. I don't know what makes me think I can sit through a session to cover it up.

As of now I have two tatoos. One on my lower back and one in the middle of my upper back. I'm in love with the one on my upper back, and it covers up when I need it to.
I'm planning on getting another one when my money situation gets straight. I'm going to get one of Ali's head shot on my ankle, not real big but big enough for detail. I always loved showing him off since he was a wonderful pet and friends and with that on me I'll still be able to do it all the time

Did the one on your foot not bleed out? The one on my hip did (just the tips of the design) - they said it was b/c you have thin skin there and on your hands & feet, so I just wondered. I think mine did b/c of the healing process - it took forever to heal & it creases everytime I sit down, so it stuck together alot. It needs to be redone pretty bad....but I really want one on my foot, i was just scared of that

I got mine done on my foot a 3 years ago. Its the only one I have and I love it. The best part is, I can hide it if I want. I was living at home and had it for 6 months before my parents saw it. And no it didn't hurt or take long to heal, my roommate got hers done at the same time on her back and that took longer to heal than mine did. I wore flip flops alot when it was healing though.

Love Tattoos

I too am obsessed with tattoos. My husband just started on his half sleeve and im getting the itch sooo bad to finally get my back done. We just moved to Las vegas so it took us a while to find an artist we like and trust.

I have a navel ring, and would love to get a tattoo of SOMETHING on my lower back (yeah, a tramp stamp, I guess), and maybe something small above my pinky toe. I just haven't come across the perfect thing to have either place. I love my navel ring. So much so I had to have it done twice b/c about 6 months after I had it done the first time, I had to have gall bladder surgery, so, of course, it had to come out. My husband liked it so much he took me AND paid for me to have it put back in! I guess it's one of those things that you know you have, but no one else does, unless you want them to.

Just make sure its what you really want. I was 14 and got a little mickey mouse on my lower back. I was sooo Dumb

I want one on my inner wrist (celtic band) and a celtic design on my lower back. BUT I am terrified of needles (pass out terrified, which causes me to have seizures) and my DH says he would think of me differently if I had one. Plus that whole biblical thing. . .<sigh> no ink for me probably.

Also, I just wondered if a lot of other BW'ers had tats and where they were? I'm going to Miami next week & really want to go get one done at the Miami Ink shop, but I bet it is crazy expensive....I also wanted to get one at Pat Fish's Celtic in Santa Barbara----anyone know anything about either of these places?

Ah- my favorite topic outside of Luka and food... I have two henna colored identical mandala's (circlular Buddist meditation symbols) on the backs of both my shoulders and I have two black shooting star's from Counting Crows Recovering the Satelights album cover on my lower back (there is alot to that, not just the Crows obsessin, it would be a novel tho, so I'll skip it :D)

I love love love the placement of the mandala's on the back of my shoulders. They are visable only when I want them to be. The color blends well with my skin (many people think they are henna and are surprised when I say they are real tats. The artist did a GREAT job). Plus, I really adore the semitry of having the same design on both shoulders and they look hot when I wear a tank. :D

I got my shoulders done in Napa, Ca and my shooting stars in Georgetown/ DC. Both represent very trying times in my life and were a tremendous release for me. Both marked specific times in my life and prove a constant reminder of what I was going thru and what I have survived.

My next tat- a back piece! I can't have really anything noticable for my job, so by back is really the only place. I am wary of getting anything on my waist or pelvic region... if I ever have a baby, I don't want it totally screwed up altho I have hear some say their's was unchanged. I think I'll wait just in case). I've alw=so been playing around w/ getting a paw print, but very uncommited to that.

I just got my navel redone. I have my nose and tongue pierced.

You are so luck to be going to Miami. I am totally and completly OBSESSED with Chris Garver. He is a nationally known artist and from the research I've done on him, seems he has had quite the waiting list. Altho the show makes it looks like you can walk in, consult w/ him and get an apt. Please let me know how it goes if you go to Miami Ink.

My mom and I are planning a Jamaica/ Barbados/ St. Lucia trip for my 30th bday... flying right thru Miami both ways. I'd love to consult w/ Garver on the way there, get the tat on the way back. So, yeah, let me know if you go there. I heard he also has a shop in LA (Los Angeles, not the state). I just googled. I can't remember the name of it, but you should check it out too- that's if you prefer him. The other artists there are amazing too.
Yeah! Good luck. I'm so jelous- I can't wait til I get cemented w/ what I want. I hope I can take awhile w/ a backpiece and calm my obsession somewhat! (Unless I go to Garver and get it all done at once... I figure I can sit for 4 hrs... don't know if I could go longer!)

I didn't see that skit-maybe that's good I missed it ! I haven't gotten any grief about my ink-my Mom wasn't pleased when I got my first one, but I was 19 at the time, so she couldn't say too much.

My mom is the reason I got mine! LOL My mom has always wanted a tat, I was always more into piercings. So finally I gave in and said "ok, if you get one, I'll get one too". She says "I want 4!" :eek:
I started looking around at designs and symbols of things I was interested in, my life, etc. I found mine and waited and she stalled and so I just went and got mine. Now I have another one and she STILL hasn't gotten her's! I assure her the pain is way less that she thinks it's going to be (my theory is the 2nd hurts more because you think, well, the 1st wasn't so bad), but she still won't commit- and now I'm addicted!
