Poor Josi she just can't catch a break! Is it possible she is developing a reaction to one of her meds? Is pred the only thing she is on?

Keep fight Josi! Everyone is rooting for you!

Gee Wiz!!!!!!

so sorry to hear that Josi has had a reaction to something. could she have gotten into soemthing? i know i hate when people ask me things like that but i had to ask :)
is she on any medication other than the pred that she might be having a reaction to?? did they give her anything at the last visit? or could she have come in contact with something at the vet's office? i hope she is feeling better real soon.
i am so glad it's not just us.
sometimes i feel like when it rains it pours. Liam had surgery a few weeks ago to have a hystiocytoma removed from his lip....then he got bit by something and his left eye swelled shut. so here he was with stitches in his lip and a swollen eye. he looked like he was beat up. I'll tell ya....never a dull moment.
hugs to Miss Josi!!!!

Never a dull moment is right! Although Josi's lip swelling did not get worse over the night and today, it never got much better either. This is soo frustrating and heartbreaking, I can't even begin to describe how I feel. On top of the extra shot of pred. plus another 100mg. of benedryl, I would have thought things would have gone down by early this evening, but she even showed signs of small hives on her lower belly. She is showing no signs of discomfort or itching or pain and continues to go about her regular activities. I spoke with the local vet around 5 and he said to up her benedryl dose to 75mg. and speak with the oncologist about uping the pred. dosage. When I spoke to the oncologist a little bit later, she was also somewhat surprised that the swelling hadn't decreased. She felt if this was an allergic reaction it would have subsided on its own by now or atleast with the assistance of all the meds. She is questioning whether this maybe a new flare up of her what has been stage 2 but doormant mast cell cancer. While this thought does make sense, I can't even believe it and I am angry that my sweet baby would have to endure more on top of everything else. The oncologist asked that we up her dose of pred. to 30mg. a day for the next 5 days and come have her ultrasound on Monday. She is hoping the additional pred. will calm whatever is going on and give her a better idea of what we are dealing with. While I am utterly disgusted with the situation, I have to say that in true Josi fashion she doesn't seem the least bit concerned and her spirits seem to remain high. I will probably need to prepare myself for a food rabid baby this weekend once the additional pred. sets in. I will post in the am. and update you all on how she is doing...

Poor Miss Josi, and you and Brian. When I saw the post about the hives on her tummy, my first thought was mast cells. We experienced this with Scarlett in that mast cells release histamines which can cause the hives. I'm praying that she just got into something, maybe a small spider bite, etc., and the dormant mast cells have not become active. She is fighting so hard.....Butler and I are sending a blanket of good vibes her way.

Keeping Josi on special radar, with many positive and healing thoughts and vibes. It is just so truly amazing, that despite whatever is happening with her body, her spirit is strong and attitude so uplifting. It is hard not to be affected by that, for you just have to feel that it is a good thing that she is maintaining this way. I so hope that the additional meds will take care of whatever is causing her hives. Hugs.
