Completely Boxer Crazy
We woke up this morning to Josi hardly breathing...her gums were gray and she didn't even have the energy to move a limb. We rushed her to the emergency room where they gave her oxygen and fluids immediately. They hooked her up to an EKG thinking this may be related to her cardiomyopathy, but the cardiologist said her heart seemed to be doing fine. The chest xray showed no fluid, but her heart and artieries were small and they had trouble finding her blood pressure. Their initial possible diagnosis was addison's disease, but after her bloodwork came back it showed her platelet count was down to only 30,000 when it should be in the upper 200,000 range. They currently have her in ICU awaiting a abdomnel scan, with IV fluids and she is wrapped in warming blankets which have brought her temperature up from 95 to 98. They have taken her off the oxygen, but she looked so weak and her gums appeared to still be quite white. Our next visit to ICU is not until 6:30 tonight, but hopefully we will hear from the internist before then with some promising news. Her low platelet count can be caused by so many different things they said and I'm hoping her mast cell cancer that has been acting benignly for the past two years has not reared its ugly head to cause this. Please send her some of your wonderful prayers and boxerworld vibes. Josi has fought through so many things over the years and we know that she will do her best to get through this as well. I will post with more info when I get some news...
