We are just over 10 weeks since the official diagnosis. We had to take Noel to our regular vet as a tiny cut on her back toe got infected. A result of the predinsone, no doubt. A couple doses of antibiotics and the toe is good now...I think she snagged it on a nylon carpet loop, or perhaps from the ice outside. Our regular vet also agreed to fill her prednisone script so we do not have to go back to the specialist. No knocks to the specialist, they are just super expensive, far away, and hard to get an appointment without taking a day off of work. If she was being treated there would be no hesitation.. She has been having more of the head bobbing seizures. Her head moves side to side, but she is fully aware and responsive. They are hard to watch and last about 90 seconds (seems like an hour). I had read somewhere online that some folks gave their dog something sweet to eat during these and they stopped. Noel was laying on my lap during one and I had a dish of pudding, so I gave her some on my finger...and the attack stopped immediately. Now, I don't know if it was the excitement of the food, or the sweetness of the pudding, but I decided to soak a couple small pieces of bacon in some syrup to have on hand. It has only happened once since, and the sweet bacon stopped the seizure. Her eyes are a little puffy now, and her ears lay back a little. She still gets around well although stumbling a little (not as much as before). She is still able to jump up in bed and on the couch and is interacting with Fred and us. Still has the super appetite, but despite eating more her body is looking thinner. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers.
