It was so nice sleeping in our beds last night. We had decent night for the most part. There were a few times she became restless but eventually settled down. When I checked her glucose level this a.m after we got up, it was low so I was a little crushed (I am trying to hold onto hope that maybe we might have gotten lucky with what was removed would help.) Her numbers have been on the lower end of normal the rest of the day and I have been trying to feed her every 4 hours or so. Her numbers are pretty comparable to what they were before surgery when I was feeding her about the same so.........I don't know (I was hoping for higher numbers if the surgery was successful.) She is still not herself and has refused food several times which she has never, ever done before.

Unfortunately, I will have to take her back to work with me tomorrow, my MIL will be here watching our daughter and I don't really think she can take care Maddie the way she needs to be taken care of right now. I really DO NOT want to take her into work with me because she gets so worked up and extremely anxious being there. Since she will be there, I guess I can monitor her levels and see what they are doing still.

They will put a call into the lab tomorrow requesting that they recut her biopsy and resubmit it again. Hopefully in a day or two I will have a better, clear cut idea as to what our situation is and if the tumor was left behind (God I hope not!!) I have been praying and praying that this was all worth it and that we actually helped Maddie.

Thanks again everyone.

Well, we are still waiting on the recut from the original biopsy. I thought it would have been back by now, I keep checking, and checking, and checking!!

Unfortunately, we are almost 100% sure we did not get the tumor as Maddie's glucose levels are dropping. Her levels are even lower now. At least before surgery It seemed like I was able to keep them somewhat stable with her smaller more frequent meals. Now, it doesn't seem like the meals are working to stabilize her levels. I was trying to hold onto every little bit of hope I had that we got the tumor and the surgery was successful. However, with each day that passes, her levels decline more and more. I pretty much gave up all hope I had that I helped her with doing the surgery. Now I have to hope and pray that I did not harm her by doing the surgery and cut her life even shorter. We will be running a few more tests on tuesday just to basically make sure we rule out a few more things, the internist just wants to be able to say she has ruled those things out for sure.
I had to rush her into the hospital yesterday because her glucose level dropped dangerously low. I don't understand why her levels are even lower now and why they seem to be declining so rapidly. I pray we can try to get her numbers under control. What really upsets me is I'm afraid since her numbers are declining so rapidly, that means we are going to lose her soon (a lot sooner than anyone anticipated). Once we removed that abnormal looking piece of her pancreas, I had a huge sense of relief, a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders because I felt like I did the right thing by doing the surgery. I really thought I bought her more time with us and helped her. Then less than 24 hours hours later I was devastated to learn that the piece we removed was probably not even the tumor and it was likely it was still in her. I held onto the little hope I had that we still helped her because her numbers were decent for the next few days but like I said, now with each day that passes her numbers are getting worse.

Right now, I think we need a miracle to happen.

So, that's were things stand with us right now. We are still waiting for the new biopsy results. After we run the new tests on Tuesday, Maddie will be started on prednisone to hopefully help her glucose levels.

Please continue to keep my baby girl in your thoughts and prayers. I will keep everyone updated.

Carrie and Maddie
