Oh Genie... That is all so terrible - and I'm so sorry it happened to little Miss Holly! Hang in there - you have to be strong for your puppy... I know how hard it is :( Chloe got kennel cough from the stupid vaccine - and I cried at the vet's - I was so furious... or when as a tiny pup she was throwing up in the middle of the night - and we took her to emergency -so she wouldn't get dehydrated: they told me that they would like to keep her overnight - I was histerical! (needles to say I didn't leave her - as no one would watch her better than me)... It's so tough: but it has to get better... it just has to - and the moment will come. Poor little Holly :( -- we're thinking about her & are wishing for a speedy recovery. Scratch her belly and her ears for us.... and please do let us know what how the consultation went... lovicon

Oh no! Poor little, sweet Holly...and poor you. I feel so sorry for you both. We will be sending her prayers from NM. Please tell her she needs to get better soon to start her show career. Doesn't she know how excited we are to follow her record? Please plant a cute, little kiss right on her mush from me.

Lots and lots of healing vibes to Holly, and Grunt sends a big hug to Scrapper's Mom (he always gives hugs when moms cry or are worried).

Well, we had the consultation this AM; they can't do the surgery until tomorrow morning because they don't have the space today; but the surgeon was optimistic that the surgery would go well and she would recover with no noticeable limp or bump... He has to put a plate on the side of her radius bone, which will remain in there permanently, and she will be wrapped up in a cast, and successively less cumbersome bandages for six to eight weeks. The main danger is that because the break is so close to the growth plate, it COULD be damaged and cause her leg to grow crookedly; it's less likely to be okay than not, but he is going to put the plate in the location where it will be the least threatening to her growth plate...and try to do a tiny sutures to close to minimize the scar that will run down the length of the front of her leg. She had all her pre-op tests today, everything came out fine, she caused all the techs at the doctors office to fall in love with her...I think even the doctor thought she was adorable... tomorrow we have to bring her back at 7:30 AM and she has to stay until Saturday.

He said that the "boney growth" I referred to earlier was indeed a break or crack from her earlier injury, that it could have caused her leg to be weaker than we thought, resulting in the newest injury, it wasn't really noticeable at first because there is a ligament over that area that sort of holds the bone in place anyhow.. That big bump will gradually be absorbed and go away as she heals further - thank heavens for that. Christina and I got an in-depth lesson in canine anatomy this morning, one I wish I never had to have.

So tomorrow is her date with the surgeon, keep your thoughts coming please for this little girl, she is just the most adorable little thing...we love her dearly. And Debbie, of course, I knew what you meant, I know how much you love your furbabies too. I really appreciate all your kind words and thoughts, this has been really upsetting to me, and the rest of our family.... Please continue to think of us over the next couple days until the sweet little girly is back home resting comfortably in her crate... well, at first it will be on the couch, of course... we will cross our fingers and pray that God favors us with a healthy front leg and growth plate for her as time proceeds.

I can't really write sufficiently how much I want to thank you all for all your moral support, I really, really appreciate it. I'll let you know tomorrow how things go.
