I booked mine way in advance. But we also went with a suite and I wanted to make sure that it was available. I would say 60 days in advance would give you plenty of options. Have Fun!! I know I will!!! :D

Hi Vegas Veteran's. A little advice please. We may schedule a trip to Vegas for Feb break(Feb 20). It would be my DH and 3DD's ages 17,14, & 10 and myself. I know it's 50-60 degrees then , but coming from Central NY, with temps in the teens or less that's not so bad. Anyway it is about the only time we can go with the kids sports schedules. We plan to stay at the Excalibur for 5 nights which sounds pretty cool. maybe take a plane/ground tour to the West Rim of the canyon, which includes a fly-over of the Hoover dam. DH and I will check out the casinos at night while the dd's watch movies in the room. I think the 17 yr. old is ok to watch them for a while. The kids love buffets and the Hard Rock cafe, etc. We will see the fountains.old vegas , the M&M store,and whatever else. Do think this would be a good vacation for us? One other question is that we will be staying on the strip for the most part(exept the Grand Canyon Tour) do think we need a car??

I never get a car when I'm in Las Vegas (I go about once a year) so you should be fine on that front. There's plenty to keep teens busy, but unfortunately most of it costs money. There are lots of arcades and such, but they're going to cost ya

Another resource I really recommend is http://billhere.com/
If you sign up for the newsletter you will get updates on what's opening/closing (he usually has the concert info before the official website I listed prior). Also, the coupon service is a great deal -- lots of 2 for 1 offers that should save money. Basically they're taken from the free magazines you can find around town (at the Mirage you'll have one in your room) and just mailed to you so you have them in your hands before you leave town.
Gameworks is a place that usually has some kind of "pay for $10 and get $20 worth of play" coupons -- that'll help entertain the kids. If you go through the coupon list you should get a lot of ideas -- kids or no kids.
alt.vacation.las-vegas (in google groups) has a wealth of information. It's currently overrun with political nonsense, but if you scan for trip reports you'll find lots of valuable insight from travelers.
And for the person staying at the Mirage, there's a machine (or was, in July) in the area leading to the Siegfried and Roy theatre that has a machine called "Rich Family" or something which features... A BOXER! It's brindle and running with its tongue out. I played for a while, hoping it was a sign of impending gambling luck, but no luck! I think it was a nickel game
I took a guided Hoover dam tour this summer and it was about $30. That included pickup at the hotel and transportation to the dam (with chatter along the way about the history of the area we were passing, including celebrity homes). We were dropped at the dam -- you can just walk around yourself, or take the tour that goes inside. I forget how much it was $10-$15 additional, I think. Can't say I really recommend it. It's not the "dam tour" that the family takes in Vegas Vacation -- very short. Still, I figured I was there, so... On the way home we stopped at the Ethel M Chocolate Factory for a free tour and samples
To find a good buy, just do websearches. You'll find tour groups and compare prices. Most were in the $28-35 range for the exact same tour. I think I got the lowest rate for booking through the internet.
Edit: Note, it also included a stop at a casino way out in the boonies for lunch. The casino was nice enough -- the buffet lunch was GODAWFUL. So don't bring a big appetite. It was tell-your-grandchildren bad. That was a 6 hour tour overall, I think. They have 8 hour tours, too. For Hoover Dam I'd take the shortest one

Our plans are set. We are going to Vegas the 2nd week of April, Sun to Thursday. Staying at the Alladin Resort & Casino. We are either renting a car for 1 day to check out the hoover dam & grand canyon or taking a bus tour. Very exciting! Not looking forward to the long plane ride, it is a direct flight from Philadelphia. We leave early so when we get there it will be 10:30AM I will give my report in April for anyone going to Vegas in the future. It is our first trip to Vegas plus I have few relatives living there, one I have never met & his brother (we are cousins) I have not seen in 10 years.

22 MORE DAYS!!! I am so excited! Just 22 more days till we go to Vegas. We decided to go see a show. We are going to see Zumanity. Its a Cirque du Soleil show. We seen Drallion when it was here in Columbud and loved it so we wanted to take this chance to see another one. This one is all for Grown Ups! :D We are so Excited. I will post pics once we get back and share them. Have fun in April!! Its our first time too. :D

We are talking about staying at the Billagio ( sp? ) The only thing that is holding us back is the weather, can anyone tell me what the weather is like this time of year? I heard it snowed 2 inches at the end of last week. We always go in the spring or summer, I love the hot weather, we spend the daylight hrs at the pool, casino's and clubs at night. Or does anyone know if the casino's have indoor pools?

We are going to be there Feb 1 - 3 And we are staying at the Mirage. And God I hope there was no snow! 
I was just looking at on Yahooand the 7 Day forcast is Monday (high/low) 62/45 Tuesday 58/38 Wednesday 55/32 Thursday 55/33 Friday 58/35 Mon and Tues they are calling for Rain but the rest of the week is bright and sunny, so thats not too bad. In my book thats about the ideal temp. Would be perfect if there was no rain. Hope the temps stay this was for Feb. Maybe a little warmer :D
