I thing Tyson first reaction would be on the aggressive side first
he is very protective of the house he would bark when the door bell rings, and also if he hears someone opening the outside gate to come in he is right there in front of the window...but once some one comes in he barks sniffs and then he wants to play.... :D .

i cannot see my little tyson ever hurting anybody, i think if a burgler broke in he would just lick them to death, he is not scared of anything people or animals, but has never shown any kind of aggression. the only way i could see him doing anything is if somebody was hurting me and he knew they were hurting me

I don't think any of my boxers would attack an intruder, unless he attack them. But they would scared him to death!!!:D

Pénéloppe is so scared of strangers that she barks very loud and continuously to see them go away if I don't stop her, so for someone who don't know dogs very well, she can seem pretty scary!!!:D

Igor is the opposite, he is a very confident little boy, and probably could be a real guard dog, because he's not scared but not loving everyone he sees at the first look either, like many! :p

Your story remembers me something...

Last year, I was babysitting late (until 3 in the morning). My sister was home, sleeping with Pénéloppe on the coach (we didn't had Igor yet). When I came hoem, by the back door, Pénéloppe became very aggressive, she didn't recognize me in the dark! I had never see her like that before! So, maybe she wouldn't be scared, who knows?

Lucy is a big softie and I'm sure she'd tell whoever was in the house to take their shoes off and make themselves at home...there's juice in the fridge and mommies sparklies are in the other room.

Oliver on a couple of occasions has defended me. Once a friend of my husband's was messing around and acting like he was going to strangle me. Oliver jumped up and put his mouth on the guys arm, but did not bite down. The other time was more serious. I was walking him and some boys(mid-teens) surrounded us. They were saying some not nice things to me. I think Oliver sensed that I was scared. He started growling and showing his teeth. One of the boys picked up a stick and tried to smack Oliver with it. Oliver grabbed the stick from the guy's hand and bit it in half. He then lost his mind and tried to go at the kid's throat. They got scared of Oliver and ran off. We ran all the way home and he got lots of treats and love. If someone was in the house though.....I'm not sure...he has a big bark...I think with his aggressive nature, he might just attack someone.

OK, so we've determined that most of our Boxers would do their duty guarding home and family. Now the question is what would they do if a particularly contientous intruder came armed with people food? We all know how our Boxers looooove people food.

That's a good question, about the food, I doubt Luke would take it. He won't take treats from strangers. At a party once someone offered him a hotdog and he just sniffed then stared at the guy.

My two are both very lovable but if it came down to it I know they would both protect me or my wife. Sometimes when I have them outside or I have the front door open a person might walk by and they will try to go over and jump on them in the typical friendly boxer way. Other times they seem to sense the person might be trouble and they let out a low growl. They often do the same thing at night if they hear something outside. Somethings just seem to tip them off and they growl and get real attentive.

Although I have never been burglarized, there was a time when, while visiting my Mom Xena had came to my defence and tried to fight off a German Shepard!! My Mom's neighbors had 2 VERY aggressive German Shepards. There was only a 5 ft high shrub line that seperated the 2 yards and my Dad had put up a large piece of wrought-iron near a space at the shed to block the dogs off. While visiting that day, the wrought-iron piece fell over leaving this large opening these dogs could of easily come through. I did a quick check of their yard and did not see their dogs so I went to stand the iron back up. I did not notice their back door was open and just as I almost had it up, the male Shepard came charging out of the house and straight at me!! I froze! Before I knew it, Xena was right between the 2 of us just as I felt the Shepards hot breath on my elbow! Xena had her teeth bared and lips pulled back and she was snarling and growling. She took a bite right out of the Shepards ear (like Mike Tyson!!haha)!! The Shepard turned back and went into the house! I have never seen Xena do that, and had no idea she was capable of that type of aggression! I do not see it as aggression though...she was protecting me and I love her to death for it! It was something I will never forget and so I tell myself that, YES, she will be there always to protect me and my family!:D :D

I know without a doubt that Muggsey would definately protect me and hubby. He is very weary of strangers and extremely protective of our house and the yard. I know he would even ignore someone with food too. Our neighbor has a new boyfriend and Muggsey just hates him. Muggsey lunges, barks and growls like a maniac whenever he pulls up. The one day, the boyfriend was trying to make friends with Muggsey and was throwing little pieces of steak to him. Muggsey ate them but never stopped barking and lungeing!! I feel very safe with my baby around :D
