Boxer Traits

Don't forget the pecking you so hard that you get a bruise (when they want to play!) They just don't take "No" for an answer!

Could there possibly any better dog? Absolutely not!

:) LOL all the above..plus it's cute in the car with me Rocky will sit up front with his bum on the car seat front paws on the floor and rests his head on the dash...talk about head being to heavy to hold up  LOL....even if he's across my hubby's lap..his paw he'll put on my leg lol...as if to say I love you to Mom...but much to my hubby's dismay :p he's not allowed to hug me or touch me without Rocky starting to do the whooo-hooo song and if he doesn't release me (lol) he starts barking at him (my hubby likes to think it's because i'm touching him ;) but I know better)

Forgot one thing....

Ronin will push his food dish all around the kitchen (with his nose) and then finally eat when he's decided it's in the right place

Maggie'sMama

Boxer Booster
Maggie does a little bit of everything...

*kidney beaning like crazy
*jumping up and in circles (and getting Daddy to join her)
*bowing when she's trying to get the cat to play
*pushing her food bowl around as she's eating
*picking up her empty food or water bowl and bringing it to us so she can make sure we don't forget to give her more
*trying to sneak up on the couch when Mommy or Daddy's not looking and fall asleep like her lazy brother Jake (the cat)
*lots and lots of kisses, especially if you're laying on the floor - she'll walk all around your head and on top of you to make sure she gets every last inch
*silent but deadly farts (although this has been less frequent lately)
*burning out - inside the house and outside
*barking at the mailman or anyone else who she sees walking by
*protecting her Mommy:)
*the confused look
*head tilts
*sad eyes
*huge sighs
*tearing up the bushes outside:(
*playing fetch or chasing the cat
*running from the cat (the chicken:))
*following us around the house everywhere we go
*laying down right in the middle of the kitchen when we're preparing supper (usually right behind where you're standing so you trip over her)
*running back to "home base" (the area rug in the living room)when playing games or not wanting to go into her kennel
*greeting all our guests with jumps and lots of kisses and sniffs
*chasing my nephews and kissing them all over
*sitting pretty anytime the treat bag appears
*trying her hardest to get whatever is on the counter when Mommy's fixing supper
*comes running when she hears the can opener (as does the cat - they think every can has chicken or tuna in it:))
*unconditional love

Boxer Pal
just like to add to all of the above, digging in the garden! then when scolded, those big soppy soulful eyes looat you as if to say "it wasnt me mom honest" my 3yrd old dog "dillon"cos he is a right dillon! when he greets us he picks up the nearest thing to him (even a hammer once !)and will not release it, i think hes trying to offer us a gift ,but then runs away when we try to take it off him! i know our lives would never be the same if we didnt have our two wonderful boxers.p.s. our lady dog "ollie" who's 15mths tries the mating ritual on dillon quite regularly !much to his chargrin!he just gives her a dirty look and walks away, she also gets quite nasty to other dogs if their together, but not when shes on he own.I know its a dominance thing but we cant break her out of it yet , but we are trying. great page(s)

How about this....Bodie is a 70lb 10 month old male brindle.....he has a lot of the traits that I have read about here, but here is another. When he wakes up in the morning adn when my wife gets home from work at night he does the weirdest thing. Bodie picks up one of his stuffed animalsand starts to spin in a circle while shaking his head. But thats not all, while spinning around he jumps and bucks at the same time. He litterally looks like he is a bucking bronco at a rodeo trying to buck a rider off of himself. When we start laughing he stops and runs up to us so we will throw his animal for hi to fetch. However, we have a digital camera that takes short video clips and my wife was able to get video about 45 seconds long of Bodie bucking away.

now that would be good t.v. imagine a show just for boxer traits it would sell millions judging on what's been written here, i've just been reading some articles about jan fennels book, the people were worried that by following her instructions that boxers would lose the bum waggle take it from me dillon still waggles his bum so that he's almost circular but he still stays calm ,and hes a much happier and back dog since we've implemented jans way

Water? trait or fear?

Kirby stepped in a puddle last night you would have thought it was boiling oil. Such a temper tantrum I have not seen before. Is this a normal aversion to water or just him? If it isn't normal any suggestions on getting him use to water? Bath time will not be fun if this continues.

I don't know if taht is normal or not.....Bodie loves the water. In fact, most dogs don't mind the water, but most tend not to ike water droplets on their faces. Not bodie. We bath him in the shower and he either sits or stands lokking straight into the stream of water, letting it run all over his face. And at the beach, he purposefully stomps through the water and then tries to catch the droplets that he kicks up.....it is quite a sight and makes for some great pictures....which I will post when I figure out how....not much computer savyness here.
