Boxer Traits

Gracie swims constantly all summer long, so she's totally soaked and wet on a daily basis. The only thing I do is give her a vitamin E capsule each day in the summer. This seems to keep her skin from drying out and itching and she does fine. Plus, she NEVER has fleas!

I have never heard of not being able to bathe your dog regularly either. Though, after I bathe her (fall, winter) I use a doggie conditioner on her after she's been shampooed. She's never had any kind of skin problem.

Though, Krose does this only to us, to visitors, he has to be in the first place to say ''hello'', then we can greet our friends:D

Harley is the same as most, I do wonder if shakeing things (leash,dish towels) is normal a (rope toy) not in this life he almost knocked me out once when he let it fly. The other thing is stealing kids toys,socks,a piece of paper anything that he thinks will get you to follow him to get it back he always makes sure you see that he has it he is worse than my ferrets.

Does anyone's Boxer go nuts around a flashlight? My girl Roxy seems to love or hate them. She chases the light when I shine it on the ground until she realizes where it's coming from, then she jumps up and tries to bite it. She seems to get really excited, so I think she likes it.
Also she seems to shed constantly and she is now getting alergies again, guess it's just the time of year. I adopted her last April and she had them but they seemed to go away about September. Do any of your kids have them/ and what do you do about it. I'm thinking maybe about some special shampoo or something, any advise?????

boxer traits - allergies

My Gracie and my George have had allergic reactions to bee stings, Roundup, etc. My vet puts them on Benydryl. For an at least 50 lb dog, you can give 100mg of Benydryl twice a day. For under 50 (George was still a puppy and about 25-30 lbs at the time) you can give 50mg Benydryl twice a day. Works like a champ and will even get rid of hives! When Gracie caught a bee and it got her before she finished it off, her mouth swelled almost 4 times normal size. Benydryl took that swelling down almost immediately. I continued it for about a week to make sure all the swelling/allergic reaction was gone. Made her mellow but didn't knock her out. The stuff works really well. Hope this helps with the allergy problem.

I introduced to my boxer into a house of cats. So he definitely thinks he is a cat. His best friend is even cat. They run around the house playing together. He'll even give the cat a bath :p

Shotze is a diva...or she thinks she is. While Im on the PC she lays on my bed...to get ONTO the bed she barks and I have to pick her up and place her on it. (Shes 11 weeks) If I go to long without rolling over next to the bed in my chair and petting her she wil bark at me. When I try to pet her she jumps and jackhammers and burns around the bed. If I tell her "quiet" she barks louder. She is a ham.
She hasnt woo-wooed yet and I cant wait for her to start. She has kidney beaned a time or two and she thinks my lap is her bed. If Im laying down she will bulldozer my hair and fall down and start kicking in it. Its hilarious. She will also roll on her squeeky toy to make it squeek then she will attack it and burn around the house.
This is my first boxer, but I will never own another breed besides Boxers. They are the funniest, smartest, most sensative and caring dog Ive ever owned.

common traits

I do love reading these!
My Shelby I think has nearly all these traits. She does provide quite a bit of entertainment... even when she is being naughty (and she knows it and does it on purpose to see if she can get away with it!!).
I think my favorite things she does are: she throws herself down on the carpet on her back and just WIGGLES and makes her crazy chubacca noises... "wiggle shelby wiggle!!!".. she is THE BOSS of the house, without question! when I try to take my other dog (Verne, Shelby's daughter... half boxer and the other half is german shepherd, coyote and God knows what else!) for a walk, she will grab the leash away from me and drag the little girl around the house (running her into everything along the way)... shelbs LOVES kids!! she is sooo perfect with them... she is my little babysitter... her favorite toys are the most annoying ones... if it doesn't make mommy crazy, she doesn't want it! Shelby HATES water!! HATES IT... that doesn't even describe her feelings accurately... if on her walk there is a puddle she looks up at me like she wants me to pick her up and carry her over it. during her baths, if I get her face wet (and don't dry it quickly enough) she will dry it off on my pants... usually crotch area... I leave her bath wetter than she is!! Shelby is built on springs!! at one point, she had an 8 foot verticle leap... without a running leap or anything!! crazy! Shelby is the most emotional and affectionate dog!! loves to be held and kissed and cuddled.... yet she is the most VAIN dog ever too!! she has been caught many many times staring at herself in the mirror, laying there for hours! she will also watch me in the mirror as to not let on that she is keeping an eye on things!
I love my babies! verne, even though she is only half boxer, she has most of these same traits. she woowoos more than shelbs! I love that little song when I come home, it makes me happy!
I could write a book, I think I nearly did!! although, my mom is writing a book about shelby, called "shelby the beautiful" she has part of it written and put on her PublishAmerica.com website... her name is Jennifer Cary if anyone is curious!

*Boxer Woo Woo Song

I definitely know what the Woo Woo Song is. My little boxer is nicknamed "woo woo girl." LOL Both of my boxers like to "talk." It is funny...I even know what they are "saying." Only a boxer lover can truly decipher there language!!
