Boxer Traits

Dear My boxer Joey:

Boxers do, indeed, make the best lap dogs, but even better, they know how to snuggle and nuzzle in your neck which guarantees you won't make them get down.

My baby George, even at 80 lbs, can nuzzle a neck like no tomorrow and even though I lose feeling in my legs with him sitting there, I can't put him down when he nuzzles and whispers sweet snuffles in my ear (which really tickle).

My boxer Porter is also a champion nuzzler and he weighs less so he's easier to handle.:)

Still a Pup, but...

Harley is only 10 weeks old, so not much of his true Boxer trais have come out, but here are the few he's got... that we LOVE!!

When we play outside, he always feels the need to attack the "onion grass", which are clumps of dark green grass that smell like onion when they're cut ( I think we have so much of it b/c our house backs up to a cow pasture and there is a lot in there... must be that natural fetilizer), anyways.... Harley will run along with me, playing, then make a sudden dash for some onion grass. And wouldnt you know, that grass is soo sneaky, b/c sometimes its in one place, but appears in another spot... but no worries, Harley bounces from bunch to bunch fighting them off!

Also, when we play, he gets hit butt in the air... its soo cute!! Especially when he waggs it, I call it the in-the-air-butt-wag!

I cant wait for all the other Boxerisms to come out... I esp. cant wait for his first woo-woo!! I remember when my uncles boxer did those when I was a little kid!

Traits

 My 3 yr. old Holly and 1 yr. old Brody seem to have all the traits that Boxers are known to have. They never let me out of sight, even to the bathroom. The only trait that Brody hasn't shown yet is trying to box me. Holly has always been a boxing boxer. One of the many things that I love about Holly is when we go for a ride in the car she never moves. I don't see how she can be still for so long. She sits in the passenger side for 2 1/2 hrs. when we go to North Georgia for a visit. She can be worn out, but she'll just sit there and hang her head, because she has never wanted to lie down. Good luck and enjoy your Harley. They are a lot of fun and company.

Lisa & Joey

Sam always has to snuggle up onto my lap when I am on the computer. I think it's his way of telling me I am not paying enough attention to him! He slowly slinks up onto my lap, one leg at a time and then he rests his head right on my chest and stares at me with those eyes that say, "I know you love me."

They are the best!

Yeah...I've got more...sorry!

I just read my last post here and i forgot quite a few things...although if I listed all of the cute traits that Sirus has...this post would be rediculous foolicon

As I'm sure all of ours would be...:o

Sirus like to talk...he's got jabber jaws! And he think he knows everything...gradicon

When I talk to him and ask him questions...as I often do...he listens so attentively and tilts his head from one side to the other as if he really understands what I'm talking about! He's such a good listener...although sometimes he cuts me off to let me know I'm rambling!

His gas has gotten much better...not smell-wise, but frequency-wise...since the food change (shameless plug for Canidae!!!) to Canidae...

He loves to hug...and thankfully he waits to lick himself until after he kisses me!!! Huge plus +++

He loves the stairs...running up and down them that is...of course he does figure 8's especially after baths and showers. And you can't go into the bathroom without him...he tries to dig his way in or eat (the door that is) his way in! And if you tell him no...he Woo Woo's at you. It's the most sad, pathetic thing I've ever heard! LOL

I think that's it...I'm sure that as soon as I submit this I'll think of another...anyhow...'til next time!

Leah, James, and Sirus too!!!

Gunner's traits are:

Kidney Beanin'
Boxing
Woo-woo'in
Heavy Head
big heavy sighs
following us around the house
sleeping with his head on a pillow
sleeping in our king size bed with us
making his own gravy for his food
pushing his food out of the dish with his nose
Stretches like there is no tomorrow
Lays flat on his back to show off his flappy lips
Rolls around on the floor like a goober (we call this Gunner Bein a Thupid (stupid) Dog! LOL)
Rubs along the length of the couch or bed with his whole body.. meanwhile collecting static electricity! YEOWCH :lol
nub-nub-nubbin all day long! (it's funny.. we look at Gunner and he'll just be standing there, no nubbin.. nothing. We say "nub nub nub!" and his little nub goes a mile a minute! We love this about him)

I'm sure there are plenty more that I've forgotten about

Quinsi is only 8 weeks old and doesn't have alot of his boxer traits yet...

He woo-woos (this is SO cute!)
buries his face in his paws
jumps straight up in the air
nub-nub-nubbin all day long

I can't wait for Quinsi to get all the cute little boxer traits .. and I can't wait until I can walk both my big boys outside!

Let's not forget how the All of the world's sadness can be seen through the eyes of a Boxer!

woo woo song

I heard the woo woo song for the first time the other day. She looked at me and barked, then woowoooooooooooooooooed! I just laughed so hard. Jaz loves to jump. She also pounces her toys like a cat. I have yet to see her lay on her back, but it wouldn't surprise me if she did. I have never heard of kidney beaning--what is it?--so I don't know if she does it. What she does like to do is crawl in between my bum and the pillow behind my back. I am sure that there are many more that I have not seen yet.

Kidney Beaning

:) Kidney beaning is when your Boxer gets really excited and happy, like when you first get home from work or from being away from the dog for a little while. They get all wiggly and their butt bends almost up to their shoulders. They jump up and down and do this waist exercise all over again until they get settled down. It's wonderful to have this wonderful animal be so excited about little old me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I see all those traits in Roxy, plus a couple more. She sleeps on my feet while I do anything sitting. When we go for a walk, if she wants attention, she will bump my leg with her nose till I almost fall over. Pair the bumping with the woowoo song until I bend down, and then boom! both paws on the shoulders for a big hug and lots of sloppy kisses. If I stand up too soon, and she feels slighted, she will bark a couple of times to show her displeasure. When we get to the off leash area, she goes!! It's like she knows I can't keep up with her and will do laps around me to burn off some energy. It's a wonderful sight, I'm sure you'll all agree, to see an 11 month old puppy running for the sheer joy of it! It always makes me laugh because she always manages to add a few high jumps and even a couple of long jumps into her track events!! Honestly, I swear she's grinning and I can almost hear her, in her head, thinking, "runrunrunrunjumprunjumprunrunjumpjumpjumpbark!"

Roxy April 5, 2003 very flashy fawn docked tail floppy ears

Wow So many traits-
Morpheus my 3 1/2 Fawn docked not cropped male has all the above traits(I think all 55 pages worth).

In addition to the "nub" wagging,Leaning into like a ton of bricks, fast circles circles circles when excited, and sighing... He's very dramatic, and a nosey neighbor- always needs to see what's going on.He loves to hide his treats...I can tell a new treat is a good one if he licks it, then has to hide it, and re-hide it for hours or days before actually eating it. He's my silly little boy.

I love how affectionate he is, he likes to play games like-Quick mommy I gotta go potty, where anywhere form an hour to three hours beofre the alarm goes off he tries to get me to let him out, only to have my place in bed taken over by the brat. Of course I get on the other side and curl around him. We wake together later.

He gets jealous when I'm on the phone. If I've rambled too long(kind of like in this posting) He'll start a light moan, to grunts, then BARKING if I've been on too long. Also, when I hug my friends or family, he's boxing us and tries to get between us.

But most of all and best of all........................................................
The unconditional love and utter joy I receive when I walk through the door. I could have been gone five hours or five minutes...The love and enthusiasm is the same. Thanks Morpheus for being the best thing to ever happen to me.

Enough said. Goodnight fellow Boxer lovers.
