Boxer Traits

Here's a list of traits that Hunter has:

Stinky gas.
Kidney beaning - funny too because Hunter will only 'bean' in one direction; to his left.
Making a nest before he lays down.
Tearing the stuffing out of his toys and shredding it all over the house!
Digging in the back yard. Hunter's big thing is that he tries to get under the fence to play with the neighborhood kids.
LOVES kids!
Squeaking his toys non-stop.
He snores like there's no tomorrow.
Woo-wooing.
Loves ice cream and popsicle's.
Slobber Puss.
He will wipe his eye boogers on whatever he can - usually my freshly ironed clothes that I'm going to wear to work! Likes to do it on the carpet as well.
Laying on his back with his feet up in the air!
Chasing the cats.
Rough pads - I thought it was just Hunter and I had actually put lotion on his pads to try to smooth them over!
Scared of thunderstorms - he will shiver with fright during thunderstorms, although he has only been in one. (we don't get them too often in Oregon)
He's a bed hog!
Beautiful boxer smile!

Most of our Hunter's traits are the same as other boxers and the posts here. Hunter is our first boxer, and in my humble opinion, I think that they are the best dogs ever!!!lovicon

peeing stance

I've been reading some of the posts in regard to boxers squating to pee and not raising their legs and all. Maybe I am being silly here but I would think that boxers would be more prone to never raising their legs to urinate due to the fact that they often don't have their tails. Dogs use their tails for balance and perhaps it's not a balanced enough stance to keep up without a tail.

Just a thought.

not scared of anything!

Your comment about your Boxer being scared of thunderstorms reminded me that my Nuker is apparently fearless!

We do get a ton of thunderstorms here in Houston, and that is no problem. The problem is fireworks. On holidays at our beach house (fireworks legal there) my husband would set off those expensive fireworks on the dock. While the other two dogs would cower and have to be put in the house - Nuke would try to catch the fireworks by jumping around in the yard on her hind legs and barking.

It got so bad though that she ran right up to the dock and singed off all her whiskers & eyebrows last 4th of July. This is a dog that had already had two eye injuries, so now she has to go in the house when we're setting off fireworks so she can't get hurt. She doesn't like that!

When I call Miss Lily to come in, she waits a couple of seconds and (she wants to make sure I'm watching) then makes a mad dash into the house. It's like she's thinking "boy, look at me, Mom, aren't I fast, I'm the best, fasted girl on the whole block!" She is really proud of herself! And I'm proud of her!:D

Amazing how many traits are so common..

I have noticed that Haley is able to climb all kinds of stuff. She is my little mountain goat. She is a total escape artist. She climb over my girlfriend's back fence (almost 6 feet high), She can also open doors and cabinets.

Does anyone else have a boxer that like to hang out in the bathroom while you are doing your business. Haley will follow me in there and scratch on the door until I let her in. Then she just sits and stares at me. She also likes to peak her head through the shower curtain. I have one of those removable massager shower head and she goes crazy if I spray her in the face with water when she peaks her head in. She tries to eat the stream of water. It is hilarious.

She is a total kidneybeaner and somersaulter. Ever since I taught her to shake, she is a shaking fool. too.

Sherbert loves taking a shower, he will go in the bathtub and wait untill you shower him. He also loves playing with sprinklers, trys to eat them. All this and he won't go out in the rain, I don't get it.

A new one!

Austin always makes sure that I know he's done eating his meal. After each meal, he walks over to me and then gets me to walk back to his food bowl to make sure it's all done and I say each time "Did you finish all your food?" Then, " Good Boy, Austin finished all his food"!

Everytime I open a water bottle, he wants the plastic cap. He has this thing with anything plastic. Loves to chew and destroy plastic anything: orange juice containers, water bottles and caps -the screw-on type.

He also loves the end of the toilet paper roll-- the cardboard part. He will flip it in the air, and make a soggy mess of it all!

He also likes to steal toilet paper from the bathroom waste basket. Even after I blow my nose, he'll go in and try to steal my dirty tissue! eww.

But you gotta love them. He is a definite bed, couch, blanket-HOG!

Crazy Pooch

Traits of a boxer...... have you got time??
Squirming on her back, chasing flies. cuddling on the sofa, squeaking toys when you are watching tv or have guests, licking toes...well infact anything infront of her nose, taking her treat and burying it for half an hour in the hope she will get another!
She's crazy, my first boxer but definately wont be the last :)

Our boxer has to rub around on the floor and furnature after dinner. She woo-woo's. When she was a puppy she used to have to be in the bathroom with us when we showered. She would come in and sit next to the bath and cry until we opened the shower door just enough for her to see us. She did this for several months, but eventually grew out of it. Of course any time anyone is in the bathroom she has to be there.
