traits

OTIS, my first born son, ( playing at the bridge ), had all the traits listed, however, he was EXTREMELY SMART. Not sure if it was because I spent alot of time with him in year 1, but he knew what I was saying. I could talk and he understood exactly what I said, it was too weird. He knew the difference between a ball, a bear, a rope and a bone. If I said, "go get the ? ", he went and got that thing, it was sooo cute. Also, he talked. Mostly it was roo, roo roo, a real deep inner bark. EXTREMELY human like, sometimes I wondered. LOVED to go bye bye, just say that and he got so excited, he ran around like crazy, or shake the keys, same effect. I'm sure all your BEAUTIFUL KIDS, do much of the same, aren't they GREAT !!!!! BOXERS :cool: :cool: :cool: :cool:

I'm now working with my second child, a daughter. I adopted her from a rescue. She doesn't know much, but sit. I don't blame her, it's her up~bringing. She seems like she can learn. She has taught me this week, that she can open cupboards. I made a mistake by putting steak scrapes in the garbage, under the sink. I came home from work and the cupboard was open, garbage was all over the kitchen, no scrapes. Next day the pantry cupboard was open. No more 5 bags of dog treats were there, just ripped up bags all over the house. Now I must find a way to teach her not to do this. I guess I have to put a gate around the kitchen.

I've learned BOXERS are VERY SMART dogs, NEVER underestimate their ability. If you own a boxer, you HAVE a child !!!!!!!!
Like it or not.... maybe that's why some people can't take them and they get abused and go to rescue. I will break my Roxy with tough love, BUT I WON'T EVER HIT HER.......:) :) :)

Also, they do know the difference between a 1yr. old child, a 5yr. old and a 12 yr. old, they play accordingly.

Otis' & now Roxy's daddy, Kevangelicon clowicon :p :D :D

Common Traits

Did they get their name because they actually box? My baby, Chief Hanky Panky ( Hank for short) could really give Tyson a run for his money!! He also lies on his back, when he's not running from one end of the house to the other. He is just happy to be here!

Rocky's Traits

Here are some of Rocky's traits that just make our day:

* prances when other dogs are around
* walks in a circle like 10 times, counter clockwise and then clockwise, all before curling into a cute bundle of fur then sleeps
* checks if the coast is clear before burrying his bone in the backyard
* does a little buck bronco type of pounce before getting his any of his toys
* makes Chubaka/wookie sounding howls when my bf plays on his harmonica. Actually he makes those sounds throughout the day, minus the harmonica. We sometimes call him WOOKIE.
* kidney beaning
* runs like a race horse for no apparent reason in the backyard
* has to get in the middle of any hugging going on
* wants everyone to wake up when he wakes up
* loves to stick his head in the shower
* loves to catch snowflakes

there's so many that have already been mentioned but let's just say this...everything he does, makes us laugh and smile... ok sometimes the gas burns our eyes, but we love him anyway.

Kidney Beans

What does this mean? I'm the proud new owner of a twelve week old male fawn boxer, one day and I'm already in love with him.

I never knew what kidney beaning meant either untill I read this site. Sherbert gets so excited when we come home that he twists his body shaped like a kidney bean, we never knew what to call it.
Sherberts traits are like most here:
snoring, farting, wookie sounds(I think he's trying to talk), falling asleep while sitting, lying on his back, catching flys, loves to play with and eat sprinklers, stick his head in the shower, hogs the bed and won't move, loves eating grapes, gets mad if you hug without him, cleans himself like a cat, using the couch or bed as a napkin, runs around like a madman for no reason, listens to everyword you say and seems to understand, knows the difference when you say get the ball or bone, loves swimming(but only if I'm right there by his side), loves giving big kisses, I'm sure theres more that I can't think of right now, this breed is truly unique and very special.

oremug...

oremug...you made me think of my rock when you mentioned grapes.

I am certain that my Rocky monster loves grapes more than any other food or treat he has ever gotten his chomper on. I have never seen a dog's mouth water so fast...he just loves them.
