Spins1344, Thats absolutely hilarious that you mentioned taking the caps off soda bottles! Layla does that too, and I thought it was so bizarre. I have never seen another dog do, but its one of her favorite things to do! Our silly babies keep us smiling :D

Jenni - my husband's white boxer, Nero, did that, and we always thought he was so weird for doing it cause we never heard of a dog doing that either. After he passed and we got Rocco, one night he grabbed an empty bottle that was in his reach and took the cap off - it brought tears to our eyes thinking of the "Neroism" we witnessed. It's funny too cause we try to tighten the cap so tight, and it's off in no time - then it's on to the plastic ring. They're so goofy - I LOVE IT!!! :)

Jo-Ann-What a wonderful story! Nero was telling you he would always be with you angelicon I just love to hear stuff like that. Oh by the way, Layla moves on to the little plastic ring immediately too. Thanks for sharing.

Kaine's quirks

It's so amazing to see how alike all our babies are. Fortunately Kaine does NOT have the gas problem. Everything else his him to a tee though. What I think is great is that he takes the kidney bean a step further by jumping at the same time and then he looks just a like a rodeo bronco. It's great!:D And if we've been away for a really long time then he will stand up on his back legs and "box" the air trying to reach for us. Oh, I almost forgot, he only woo-woos when I sniff (real fast like he does) at his ears. I hold him real close and stick my nose in his ear and he goes nuts. He kinda sounds like a drunk opera singer! LOL! He also loves to play fetch, keep-away, hide-and-seek, and the apartment laps are lightning fast! A new thing he just started involves his pillow. My mom made him a fleece pillow and when he does his "speed demon" act he ends up pushing all the stuffing in the middle and making a big hump. So last night he got tired and wanted to lay on the pillow but he didn't want it lumpy so he walked like 20 circles on the pillow till it was flat and then it was good enough for him to lay on.

I've seen some others mention their babies not liking puddles and such. Kaine is the same way. He doesn't even like soggy grass. He goes so far out of his way to avoid them. So far as walking the length of his leash (16 ft) away from me to not step in some yucky outside water.

His best though is how he responds to "Who's my big sweetie." I say it in a really deep baby voice (like you use for "baby talk") and he will come running from anywhere to give me tons of kisses. And the more I say it the more excited he gets. We love our 5 mo old baby boy!!!

Thanks for enduring my long post but I love how we all get such a kick out of these stories and other people would think of us as obsessed!!

Definitely seems like we are crazy sometimes, but from all those with dogs that I know, only boxer owners share this many stories and are constantly talking about their pooches! Thankfully, a co-worker of mine has a boxer so I'm even able to talk about Rocco at work and have someone know exactly what I'm talking about! They're so full of personality, and have such a great look to them! Thank god I found this place!! :)

:D Boy we sound like a bunch of proud parents, but that's how I feel about Lady. When I throw her toy and she catches it on the fly you would she was my child and had just hit a home run. The great part about our Boxers is the unconditional love. No matter what mood we are in or how we act, they still love us (messy hair, no make up, etc.) They don't even mind moning breath!!! That love for you.

Even when they do something wrong and give you that 'BOY I DIDN'T MEAN TO DO THAT LOOK" how could anyone possibly get angry at that face.

Family pets are the best!!!!

Well, let me tell you about my guy Cruiser. He'll have his first birthday in about a month, and probably weighs 90 lbs. By far the biggest of the litter, and even bigger than his dad, who is a big boxer himself.

He is quick to let us know when he wants out. If we don't see him standing at the back door, he will scratch until someone notices. But lately he will scratch at the back door, then step back several steps and not go out. When I open the door, he patiently waits for our other two dogs to come in the house, then they all trot off together. Sort of a "Boxer conspiracy."

We really love this guy!

We have 2 big boxer babies! We,ve had Lacy for 2 years and she definetily has all of the traits I've seen mentioned, she even waits in her bed for one of us to tuck her in with the blankets. She recently had a litter and we kept what we thought was the runt (25lbs at 12 weeks) Bruiser, which is turning out to be an appropriate name and already acts exactly like mama.

The only thing I haven't seen mentioned is a trampoline! This is absolutely their favorite way to play. In between the laps around the yard they jump on it and box (even had to build a ramp for puppy so he'd stop howling). No one is safe on it if they are around.

I've owned several breeds of dogs and boxers are by far the most lovable and playful of all:D :D
