Boxer in bed??

Well...I used to have my babies in bed with me, but due to the fighting, I've gotten very strict on alpha privelidges. Nobody gets to sleep with the alpha unless invited and I don't want to invite one and not the other, so I'm now sleeping alone. :(

Before Conner, Tess slept with me. She was quite a snuggle bunny. I miss it, but I know that it's best given the circumstances!

I just love having Daisy in bed and cuddle with her but we only have a double bed and and she takes so much space when she sleeps. We get up in the morning to go to work very tired. She sleeps on her bed next to my side of the bed. The second my DH is up, even before he's out of the bedroom, Daisy takes his place and cuddles really close to me. We have almost two more hours to hug and cuddle before I get up to go to work.
She understands that most of the time cause if I go to bed early she climbs in with me but when DH comes in the room she will give him the place without him asking but once in a while she wants to stay and she will start woo wooing at him to stay.
As soon as we buy a new bed it will be a kingsize so we can all cuddle up be happy.

Sounds like we have the same stories. When I got my Zoey at 8 weeks old she cryed the first few nights and I couldn't stand it either. After the 3rd night I picked her up and out of the crate and she's been sleeping with me since. I couldn't imagine my furbaby not in bed with me. I love waking up in the morning and seeing my Zoey too. She's sort of a bed hog, but that's ok with me too. I love her unconditionally. If you don't sleep with your boxer you don't know what you're missing. They are so soft and loveable....how can you NOT sleep with them?

What a funny topic...so many stories!! I, too, was adamantly opposed to sharing our then QS bed. But Barkley got very, very ill at about 4 months old and I think we were just so worried we wanted to keep her close. After that, there was no going back, so now we share a king size with her and her little (75lb!!) brother and it's a race between them, DH, and I to see who gets the best real estate each night. In addition, I sleep with earplugs in because I am the only one of the three of us who doesn't snore. Barkley could peel paint from the walls, the noise she makes!! Funny, though, I used to be the lightest sleeper and now DH laughs in the morning..."didn't you feel Jordan walking around on your back last night?!" Ultimately, for us it's a bonding thing...they like to be close and we like them close. So much love in one little space!!

This is a funny subject indeed and a very interesting at that! I'm sorry to hear your Barkley was very ill. Is he or she better now? My Zoey has a rare muscle disease called polymyositis and I found out about it just a few months back. She's not even 2 years old and she already has this rare disease. I'm just heart-broken over it, but I'm hoping for the best. What was wrong with your Barkley? Back to the sleeping in bed situation, I agree that once you start that routine, its NO going back. And yes, they snore, don't they. But I think I do too so if it doesn't bother Zoey it shouldn't bother me. This subject if very interesting to see how many people actually sleep with their boxers. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one.

There's a sign at my Vet's office that says that something like 70% of us sleep with our pets, so at least we're in good (if crazy and crowded!) company! WRT the Barkster's health, she was the runt and has just had one problem after another...mystery tummy trouble that had her looking like a furry skeleton for several months, allergies, seizures. We lovingly refer to her as our Million Dollar Baby, because it seems that's what we've spent at the vet! Sorry to hear of your pup's woes...this sight has always been very helpful for us as resource and a shoulder to lean on. Hang in there! As sickly as Barkley has been on and off, she actually leads a very full, active, healthy life 95% of the time these days!

I'm glad to hear Barkley doing ok. Zoey was the runt too and I know what you mean about the Million Dollar Baby statement. I take Zoey to a specialist out-of-town and he's really expensive, but Zoey's worth it. I sure do worry about her thou. She's on predisone and that drug really seems to be helping her. So far, so good! That's all I can ask for. But she's really packing on the weight with that drug, so now she's on a diet. If it's not one thing, it's another. The disease she has affects all the muscles in her body especially her jaw bone where it locks up and she can't open her mouth. It's really scary so I'm keeping a close eye on her. She's such a good little girl. How old is Barkley? She sounds like a sweetie too. I'll have to check out your gallery and see what she looks like. Zoey is a flashy fawn and she know's she a cutie too. It's time to take Zoey for a walk, she's looking at me which means she wants to go for her walk. I'll be back later.

I have always let my shih tzu sleep with me bc he is so little....but with Duchess there is another reason. When she was little she was sick and the vet said it was very important not to let her get cold. So of course i let her sleep with me while she was recovering and by that time she was hooked and I would have missed her sleeping there with me!

 

[Barkley]

Barkley will be three in December and Jordan two in September, though he looks older because he outweighs her by 25 pounds! Have fun on your walk...we're on the back deck while they play in the pool and harrass the neighbor for mowing his lawn! Barkley's a lovely natural fawn, very girly-girly, and Jordan is a flashy (I think?) Brindle who is every ounce a little boy. He's drinking from the pool as we speak...need I say more??!

I just went into your gallery and looked at your two cuties. They are both adorable. Those faces are so sweet how can you not want to sleep with those two. You have a really nice gallery and beautiful dogs. Zoey harrasses my neighbors too when they're cutting their lawn...it must be a boxer thing. Yes, indeed your dogs are very, very beautiful. We didn't leave for our walk yet, but we're going soon.
