I did not vte because we don't have kids yet, but are trying hard to make one.

I'll be 22 in September and my hubby just turned 27.
We both have a great job, we bought our brand new house last year, and are both ready fo a baby.

sbartels, I know what you mean... I got an operation on my ovaries last March beacause I had a cyst. But before knowing what was wrong in my belly, I felt the same wayu you do... I did not know if I could ever have kids, so I was worried sick! Don't worry about it though, you kinda "grow" out of it someday!

I went from single active duty military full time student to married college grad with 1 baby in 21 months. I was almost 25 when I got married. I was sick of the single life, and I definitely found the right woman. We have been married 10 1/2 years and now have 3 boys. I don't have any regrets.

Vasha,
You just worry about making yourself the right woman and the right man will find you.

   Donald I really hope you weren't trying to come off as being chauvinistic because this sounded pretty harsh to me. I am sure you had the best intentions and it just got worded funny. ;)

Thanks for the advice, i think. But being that I feel a relationship should be based on love, acceptance of each other's faults and a celebration of each other's similar traits. I dont think that I'd have to "make myself the "right" woman" for anyone. In fact, in my hopes, he would just accept me for me. :)

I'm 24, and don't have any kids yet. My parents think the only grandkids they'll ever have will be furbabies. I feel the urge to have one often, as all my friends have babies, and my fiance has seven nieces and nephews. But I am also in school, not working, and we're not financially ready for children, and I don't want to have kids and not be able to afford them. But, like said above, if you wait till you can afford them, you'll never have them. My ideal age is probably 27 or 28, when I can afford them a little bit more than I can now! And Vasha, I didn't think I'd ever find the right man. I had given up when I met my fiance. Everyone told me I'd find one whenever I wasn't looking, and that's exactly what happened! It'll come for you too. And you certainly shouldn't have to change for him!

I realize Donald can answer for himself, but thought I'd throw in my two cents worth. I didn't interpret his post that way at all. My read on it was "Be right with yourself first, become the kind of person you know you can be, and the rest of it will fall into place." I don't for a minute believe Donald was questioning Vasha's "marriageability." Of course, if I'm wrong, I'm gonna have to go to Texas and hunt Donald down myself! (What was that you said about "too much estrogen", Donald??)

I voted 25-30 because I will be 29 in december when our first baby is due! I always wanted them young like when I was 19 or 20 but like you I was going to college full time and wanted to wait. Then after I got married we decided to go on the "5 year plan" so we could save some money and get a house. I am happy I waited but now I am in a place where if I can't work from home I can stay home full time.

I am 26 and just had my first one 6 months ago. I would have liked to have my first a few years earlier, as I would like to have all of my kids by the time I'm 30. That way, when I'm 50, my oldest will be 20 and I can do some travelling without having to concern myself with who is looking after my children.

As far as Donald, I think maybe was saying in a different way, to be right for yourself, love yourself, when you are happy with yourself, then you can love another. Maybe I'm way off. It is very true though. Also, when you're least expecting it, it will come to you.

Good luck and I was told, as many who posted before, that if you wait until you're financially ready, you'll never have them.

Also, it is a permanent change, but if you flow with the change, instead of against it (if that makes any sense), having children doesn't have to be restrictive. Yes, there are certain things you can't do any more, or at least can't do without finding a babysitter, but there are lots of things you can still do and you can find absolute joy in reliving them with your children.

Enough of my babbling . . .

I took it the same way as well! And Donald, you are right on!

I am 28 and am getting married in September. Jason and I both always say we are never having kids but, when we talk to each other, I always say 1 *might* be an option but he says 2. When people ask if we have kids we always say "Yep, 5" You should see their faces, which get funnier when we pull out the family photo  I think I was just meant to have animals and my sister was meant to have the kids. She has 4 and is still going  I just don't feel that I would be lost without ever having any children. My mother says I'll change my mind..anyone else feel like this?
