Boxer Pal
Alice is a bit over 3 months old. She's soo smart already! She can sit, lay down, shake with both paws, speak (sometimes...), stay, and I've been trying a new one, getting her to spin around in place when you move your hand in a circle. She's coming along though!

Completely Boxer Crazy
We have never taught our dogs many tricks - but SuzyQ sits, stays, shakes - whatever hand you hold out she gives you that paw, lay down, get in your pillow bed (that is usually for crowd/riot control) that is about it. But she is trained to sit when you feed her until you tell her it is ok, same with going outdoors she must sit till we say it's ok (she knows these commands with hand signals only also). Since she has been an adult, our yard has not been fenced (she had a fenced in area when she was young) - she knows her boundaries (we live in the country and she has the run of approx. 1.5 acres) she won't chase a squirrel, dog, rabbit or anything else beyond where she is supposed to go. It's really funny when she chases our cat and he goes outside "her" area and she stops and just glares at him. We can walk across the street to the neighbors and she will sit in her yard and wait. When she walks on lead, she notices other dogs, or squirrels, but won't pull or lunge, I just tell her "never mind" and she just watches them. I had her in town with a large crowd of people a couple of weeks ago and she doesn't pay attention to other people, unless they come up and pet her. It is wonderful to have such a well trained girl to take with me and I can't take credit for her training, my hubby is very consistent and dedicated to training all our dogs like this - he has done a wonderful job.

Box Boys

Boxer Insane
Buster's 15 1/2 weeks old. He can do the following:

Sit
Down
Leave it
Give paw (either one, but preference is right)
Hug
Kiss (what Boxer can't do this?!!!)
Roll over
Crawl (the cutest thing you've ever seen!)
Sit pretty (both front paws up)

There's a couple more...but I'm drawing a blank.

Bayleigh has a lot of tricks!

She can:

clear a room with her noxious gas
sneak into the bed without us knowing
dispose of tissues by eating them

and her best trick:

counter surfing! She taught herself that one!

LOL...I have to say, those are priceless and yet oh so true! Especially the gas thing! We give Buster yogurt which is supposed to help, but I haven't noticed it helping any at all. Buster isn't big enough to jump into my bed yet (it's pretty tall), but he did get out of the kitchen while we were at work/school on Monday and found the toilet paper roll in my master bathroom...it was ALL OVER my room. It was too funny though and he's so silly, there's no point in getting mad over it. Whenever he manages to get out (which is more often lately), he's always so proud of himself. A co-worker told me that his boxer knew how to open doors...I'm not-so-anxiously waiting for that one! :)

Boxer Buddy
Sit
Stay
Down
Down-Stay
Turn around
Paw
Other Paw
Sit Pretty (although he's still wobbly at it- the first time he tried it, he fell over onto his back and has never fully trusted it haha)
Take a nap (the BEST trick ever)
Leave it (essential when you live in NYC)
In the corner (of the elevator when other people get in, he moves to the corner and sits. Another NYC essential)
Let's go potty
Go get your penguin guy, rope toy, octopus etc.
Heel (A+ when treats are involved, other times not so much)
When on walks, he carries his poop bag by its knot to the garbage instead of me having to hold it. It's the cutest thing in the world! He loves having a "job" to do. Now if only I can teach him to pick it up, too...

I would LOVE to teach him "roll over" and "bang bang (play dead)" and "bow" but he won't have any of it. :(

I think that's about it for now.

lilboxerbaby

Boxer Booster
Let's see, both mine can:
Sit
Down
Stay
Shake
Kiss (this is not a lick, it is a pucker kiss!)
Come love (they come and lay their head in my lap)
Go get in your own bed (they don't like that one)
and Buster can open the sliding glass door to let them back in the house :)

Kiss = Very cute! How do you teach them to pucker?

The only things that my boys can do that have not been mentioned are wave (their command is wave, then we just add wave hello or wave goodbye ...they hear wave and do it) All you have to do to teach them to wave is after they get high five you take away the reward of touching your hand....when their hand touchs yours when you tell them high five that is the cue for a treat or another secondary reinforcer like telling them "yes"......so to wave all you have to do is hold your hand out and say wave in the same manner as you would high five, but you never let them touch your hand, you give them the treat and the secondary reinforcer of "yes" or whatever you choose right when they wave their paw to try to touch your hand. Eventually they get it!

Both of our boys can also "be sexy" they had issues trying to roll over, it was always an issue to get them all the way over, they would go half way and stop.....so we turned it into a new trick, when we put them in a down and say "be sexy" they roll onto their back and spread their legs out to show their "goods" then they pop back up. It's adorable. Our older boxer Molson is really good at it.

I'm trying to teach vaughn how to put things into a bucket, however we never taught him hold when he was younger, we always taught him to leave things and drop things, so he needs to learn hold first then he can eventually learn how to drop them in a bucket.
