We live in what I would call the country but the city is not far away. We have a 2bdrm house but it is big and spread out. We have an acre that is all chain lenghted in. We do have it divided up in 3 parts for mowing purposes maitnance and such. But all has connecting gates. We also have a Chain lenght kennel we bought when we first started getting our puppies. I was always worried the yard was to big and they would get out or hurt so this was a safe place for fresh air. They have their own beds but at this time Goldie preferes our bed instead of hers. We have lots of toys and we have to pick them up all over the yard to mow to. The land all around us is woods and across the street is a horse ranch.

Gracie and Ty have a three bedroom house with a fenced backyard and raised back deck (that lets them see over the high privacy fence) for them to stand on and bark at everybody on the path that goes by our yard down to the park behind our house. They also like to sunbathe on the deck. When the weather is nice, the back door is open for them to go in and out. Now that winter is coming, I really want to put in a dog door for them. Sometimes there are people to bark at and I am too slow opening the door for them, so I really think they need a dog door. :) (Just kidding--we are working on the barking.)
They have a lot of wrecked toys everywhere, inside and out. I haven't found many toys that stand up to boxers playing tug, but luckily Gracie and Ty still like to play with their toys after they are wrecked. A new shipment of toys from JB Wholesale is in the mail and should be arriving before the end of the week!

All You Need is Love

I had a boxer in a one bedroom apartment and then I got another sweet boy and we all did just fine. I am a firm believer that, just as with people, all they need is food, exercise and love. A big house and yard are more for the owners than for the four-legged kids. We all know that no matter how big they are they all think they are lap dogs and only need as much space as a you leave next to you as that is the only place that they realy want to be.

Just wondering what your boxers living conditions are??
House, Apartment, Condo, etc...Country with a huge field, Suburb with a yard, inner city with dog parks & sidewalks. Any special gizmos you have had installed specifically for your dog?

Some of my friends think I am crazy because we live in a one bedroom apartment (and yes he still manages to find room to do boxer burnouts). We do not have a yard but he gets exercise daily through walks, going to parks, and friends houses. We have dog toys scattered all over our apartment and he seems to love it here. He has a dog litter box on our balcony, which has helped with bell training, emergency bathroom trips, and sanitary reasons due to other dogs that aren't being taken care of in the complex. Once we get a bigger place we want to adopt another boxer (probably a couple years from now).

Just curious what everyone elses situation is...& make sure to let me know how many boxers you have. :)
THANKS!!!

Zero rocks the house!

My boyfriend and I live in a 500 sf duplex rental. Kinda small, but Zero doesn't care. We've got a huge fenced yard that we share with another 2 duplexes. When we first moved in here, there were 2 other dogs here, but they have moved. We are hoping someone with a nice dog will move in and become friends with Zero! We take him to the dog park almost everyday. He's a very energetic 7 month old, and he takes full advantage of the yard! He's got toys everywhere.... bedroom, kitchen, living room, yard, yard, yard!!!!

We used to live in a 3 story townhome that was about 1700 square feet, and now have a 2 story 3000 square foot home. To tell the truth i don't think they notice the difference. At last they have a yard to play in, but it is not fenced so i still walk them on leashes. During the day while everyone is at work and school we take them out to play with their cuz with no leashes and run around like nuts!

We live in a single story 4 bd Spanish style "Territorial" (adobe) on an acre of desert landscape. It has an enclosed courtyard entrance and and an adobe walled back patio with a pool and plenty of shade. Goldie has room to "burn" and loves to sit and watch the bunnies, quails and other wildlife from the back porch. We can take walks in our neighborhood (through the wash when the snakes hibernate for winter) and along the winding streets on other days. I just have to make sure she doesn't get away from us (especially in the evening) because there are coyotes, bobcats, javelinas and rattlesnakes in the desert that surrounds our property.

We (DH, I, Cortes, and the cat) live in a 2 bedroom townhome style aprtment. Its just over 900 sq feet. Cortes has a bed downstaris in the living area and one upstaris in our bedroom that aslo gets moved into the second bedroom if I'm up there working on a scrapbook or studying. We don't have a yard, since its an apartment, but there's a nice fenced in dog park less than 15 minutes away and my brother and his girlfriend live 2 apartments away with their Neopolitan Mastiff. Cortes gets plenty of play time between the two, but is often satisfid with playing fetch inside (he won't play fetch outside). he also gets to go with us when we visit our parents, my inlaws own over 200 acres so he gets to run off leash there as much as he wants. Hopefully within the next year or two (I graduate from lawschool in May) we will be able to buy a house and fence in a good size yard for him.

We have a 3 bedroom 2 bath home with a large yard. However, DH has not got it fenced in yet, so we have to keep Tessa on a tie out (only when we are there to supervise) or on a lead. I believe she would stay in the yard, but we have lots of deer around, that I'm sure she would love to chase. We just try to be better safe than sorry. She also has a huge comfy dog bed, but she seems to like ours better. :)

We live in a two bedroom apt/house, and I was concerned about the space, however, last night I saw Calla's first burn since we have been there. I was so relieved!! It went on for about 5 minutes, running and jumping--it was so cute! The yard is not fenced so she only goes out on a leash (plus I am not yet 100% comfortable with the neighborhood). There is a screened in porch and she goes out there for fresh air. We take her to a friends house a couple of times a week because they have a fenced in yard and a boston terrier (her boyfriend).

Dh, Molly and myself live in a 3 bedroom two bath house with a fully fensed back yard. We live somewhat in the County and Molly has access to a field in our back yard as well. NOthing but Cows down the road but she hates when they all decided to Moo at the same time. Generally Mooing means boxer burns. Sometimes because of the neighbouring cows the air is not always as fresh as it could be at our house but none the less she loves the freedom she has to run.
