What do you do for a living?

I'm a cashier at Lowes.

I work the outside lawn and garden register, so I get to be outside and around flowers all day.

I love being able to chit chat with the customers, and wander around and look at all the beautiful flowers in the morning when we're slow.
There's also an extreme amount of breaks at lowes. Every 2 hours we're required to have a break. I dont know why..but it feels like I'm in the break room more than working.

I care for the elderly within one of the largest healthcare organisations. I am at the moment working on night shifts, I enjoy it and try to give our residents the best care possible

I work for NBC Universal, for iVillage.com in the Pregnancy & Parenting channel. I'm an Assistant Community Moderator, which essentially means that I'm part-time rather than full-time (even though I assure you, I work full-time hours!). I'm actually switching positions here shortly - July is going to be one BUSY month!

Anyway...how to explain what my job entails...I guess the easiest way to describe it is that I help to maintain and protect the atmosphere on our message boards/Social Networking spaces. I also deal with emails from members, as well as making sure that "my" (I have a specific list of boards that I'm the "Mama Mod" for) boards are running smoothly, and that "my" CLs (Community Leaders) are doing their jobs. I help in the hiring of new CLs, and we're constantly giving advice to our CLs on how to keep things running smoothly, as well.

Sometime in July or August, I'll be joining astrology.com as their new Social Networking Moderator as well. I'm looking forward to that - I have a lot of creative control with it, so that's going to be a blast.

The very simplest way to describe my job is this: NBC/iVillage pays me to play online! I LOVE my job!

I forgot to add the other part! I work from home, so my babies are here with me all day, every day!

I have several "jobs" going on at the moment, and they all allow me to stay home, and create my own hours. I'm the mother of three children, ages 10,7, & 3. I also have two direct marketing businesses. I'm an Educational Consultant with Discovery Toys, and am also a Scrapbooking/Stamping consultant with Close To My Heart. I am currently working on my first novel, (based on a dog-trainer who has a Boxer!!), and hopefully will be able to call myself a writer when my book gets published!

It is my considered opinion that the hairdresser is the most influential person in any community. When the public goes to a hairdresser, something happens to them. They feel safe, they relax. The hairdresser knows what their skin is like under the makeup; they know their age; they don't have to keep up any kind of pretense. People tell a hairdresser things they wouldn't dare confess to a priest and they are open about matters they try to conceal from a doctor. When people place their secret lives in the hairdresser's hands, the hairdresser gains an authority few other people attain. I have heard hairdressers quoted with complete conviction on art, literature, politics, economics, child care and morals. I am a hairstylist and I love it. I worked in an office for 7 years as a Marketing Analyst and I wanted to slit my wrists everyday. It was awful. Then I got fired and went to Cosmetology school and never looked back.

I think it's time I become a faux finisher again. I did it for years and had the best clients in the world! Stenciling, ragging, colorwashing, Venetian plaster...playing on walls with paint. I gave it up a few years ago due to a torn rotator cuff and the surgery that followed. Tried again, but required another surgery. Well, the truth is I'm not making any money out in the real world and I miss painting, it was an awful lot of fun.

So, I got a call the other day from my favorite interior designer. She asked if I'd be willing to take on some work for her. I think it's time to jump back into the game. See what happens. Limit my hours, and take on only the jobs that require a little less physical exertion. It's all good!

I work as an Interior Designer for a small (4 person) firm north of Boston. For years I worked as a kitchen and bath designer for only kitchen design firms, so that is definitely my speciality, but decided last year after getting laid off because of a slow market that I should expand what I do since I did graduate with my degree in Interior Design. Now, I work some days from home, some days from our other office, and the rest of the time from the car or the Design Center. I LOVE it, Dempsey gets to come to work with me 90% of the time, my boss is completely fantastic, and I am learning so much!
