Still fighting in del rio

sorry if i'm not able to respond to everyone's replies. Ya'll can rest assured that I am taking all the advice to heed and am not stopping until, well I don't know when. I don't care about a public apology nor any money. I just want them to say "ok, we were wrong."

Me again

Thanks for the website. Yes, Mia is still here, she finally went outside and played with the kids. She USED to be an outdoor dog. Not anymore, the Sheriff's Department still says she must be put down. She'll only go out if one of us is there.

Ssleighter, I jus saw pics of hammer. He looks just like Chavez used to. Something new, apparently the Sheriff's Office thinks Mia is dead! I don't know how since I told a deputy that I "stole" her back from the Vet's office that was supposed to put her to sleep.

This may be a god send for Mia.
If the Sheriffs Office thinks she is gone, let them keep thinking that. I think it sounds like time for Mia to into the Boxer Protection Program. A little name change , wear some shades for a while when in public.

Then Chavez was one handsome boy!! I am sure he is dearly missed by your family!!

I agree, let the Sheriff thinks she's dead! Maybe, with a little luck, they'll forget the whole thing! I know it won't make things better about Chavez though! Keep Mia indoors unless supervised and maybe you won't have any more trouble out of them!

This is a sad and tragic series of events, and I cannot believe that in this day and age that police officers would:
A) Recklessly shoot an animal first, before understanding what the circumstances are.
B) Claim they only have seconds to make a decision and react, incase the dog might turn on them as well, so let's shoot it to be on the safe side. How could they even think that!!
C) Falsify the incedent report - to justify the shooting.
D) Insist that Mia still be put down, even with no evidence that the lamb was harmed.
Did the officers not have any real work to do.
Obviously/hopefully the vet is on your side, if you were able to smuggle Mia out, I hope she stays safe.
All the power to you and Mia, go get them smashicon

I was just thinking, you know when an officer shoots a human they aren't supposed to shoot to kill unless they feel their lives are threatened, they are instructed to shoot them in the legs or other not as life-threatening ares if the officer's life is not in danger. So how could they shoot Chavez and kill him and just shoot Mia in the leg? Shouldn't they have aimed for the legs on both of the dogs if they felt they were threatened in such a way? Maybe that sounds weird, what do you guys think?

0728avila was it a lamb or a goat that your dogs (did not) attack? I'm happy you smuggled Mia away from the vet! cool2icon

I don't know how police officers in Arizona are trained so I cannot say that you are completely wrong Roxy but here in Ohio police officers are NOT trained to shoot to injure. If you are faced with a life threatening situation you pull your gun to kill. There are levels of force for different situations including those that are 'non-life threatening'; these do not include a gun. You do not pull your gun unless your life or someone else's is in danger. I would be surprised if any state teaches their officers to shoot people in the legs.
