Did they tell you the extra details, like NOT seeing the attack or seeing any wounds on the lambs AFTER they took Mia from you?
Why did your neighbor call the police and not you, especially if their livestock was in fact, not hurt?

Your tragedy has put tears in my eyes. How could they just shoot and kill 2 dogs and they did not see them do a thing and they had no marks on them. Just does not sound fair. What are the laws about this stuff. Can you sue the Sheriff's Department? How terrible is it for your 5 year old to deal with this! I would be honest and tell my child exactly what happened. He is young, but I would not lie to him. My heart aches for you and your family.

I would think dont burden a child with something that is going to make them feel even worse, and they can do nothing about

What would be most effective here? Call or email? I am ready to voice my concern for the inhumane treatment of these animals. They must change their procedure.

Another thought just occurred to me. Will this post and our efforts be deemed as political? My conscience does not allow me to stand and do nothing but BW might not be the correct platform. Anyone know?

This reminds me of the recent shooting of the "attacking" dog on the Tennessee interstate. It was a pit/boxer mix that was wagging his tail and going to play with the state patrol officer and he shot it with a shotgun!!! The problem is that these officers use their "I only had one second to react" as an excuse and with that sometimes bad judgement is allowed. I hope you get compensated or at least a public apology. Obviously, there is no way to replace your friends you lost but some sort of action by the department would help immensely. If not, I say take them to court and go for punitive damages (if Texas allowes them, NE doesn't). Good luck and sorry for your loss...

Me again!

The deputies said they don't know who made the call. I don't even know if the owner knows about it yet as the Sheriff's Office is not going to look for him because there was no damage to anything! As far as e-mail goes, we're in west Texas, I don't know if the S.O. has e-mail. It is in Val Verde County Texas.

Hello, I would be filing my own animal cruelty charges with the exact SO that thinks no damage was done, if nothing came of it, well, straight to the DA I would run.. I am sorry you are going through this, don't let this go unnoticed.. Can you contact any news organizations??? Get someone to do a "fluff" piece on your dogs?!?!?!
