How's Toby doing? Any word on what was causing his vomiting and not wanting to eat? I sure hope it's not parvo. :( Macon had parvo and pulled through, but it is such a deadly virus. Sending lots of <<healing vibes>> your way. Keep us posted :)

What were his symptoms and such? I honestly can't believe that Toby would have parvo.. It just doesn't sound right and it's not meeting up with his symptoms at all except for the vomiting, Which isn't frequent and he hasn't done it since at the vet's office.

Glad to hear Toby is feeling better. If he's throwing up bile could it be that his tummy is empty and he's just hungry?

We only had her home for 48 hours before we realized she had it. She wouldn't eat, kept vomitting this awful smelling liquid, and awful diarrhea, and was moaning in pain when you picked her up, and was extremely dehydrated.

I doubt Toby has parvo. If he did, he would be in isolation at the vet already with an IV of antibiotics and fluids. It's a very rapid disease, so you would definitely know. I'm sure the vet did the parvo test on him. It's some kind of dipstick test like a pregnancy test.

I'm glad to hear that Toby is doing better. I was worried about the little guy :)

So glad to hear Toby is doing better. Hope he gets to come home. I hope Piper does well also. Max sends wiggles and sloppy kisses.

Another Update

Kyle called the vet around 2pm to see what was going on and if Toby could come home, etc.. All they told him was that they'd like to keep him overnight again and he is improving muchly. Bleh.. Maybe tomorrow when we go pick up Piper from there we can take him home. *sighs*

They're keeping him three nights but no diagnosis? Do they know what it actually is that has been causing the tummy troubles?

Sending healing vibes to Toby for a quick recovery!

I don't think they know.. Which is kind of discouraging and makes me wonder.. If he doesn't come home tomorrow I'm going to go have a long talk with them about what the heck they're doing. He's not even on IV's or anything. He can come home and do nothing here rather than sit in a cage in his own poop/pee and actually get attention.

He had poop matted in his fur this morning, Ugh..

Obstruction

Judah did this every once in a while a couple months after we got him, and I think I have posted this before but here's what it turned out to be: Dryer sheets and/or small socks. It turns out that when we first got him we got him a plush toy, and he had an accident in his crate, and we had to wash it. Well it was one of his favorite toys and it smelled like dryer sheets after we washed it, so naturally...

It took a while to figure out why he was throwing up occassionally (also a mucusy white and yellow mixture) but then I noticed something wierd in his poop; Sure enough, it was a dryer sheet. We have been much more careful about making sure none fall on the ground in the dryer area, but a couple of weeks ago he substituted one of my thin black dress socks for the dryer sheet, and that night was up again with the mucusy vomit, and wouldn't eat much the next day, then BLAM! he yacks up a little black sock. So whoever suggested obstruction might be on to something. By the way the throwup looked sort of like what a person would cough up if they had an sinus/lung infection but only a lot foamier. Hopefully you'll figure it out.

Yeah.. I'm going to bring that up to the vet if they don't know what's going on by tomorrow. I'm just tired and want him back home. :(

Ok.. So Kyle and I don't know what to do. Toby has been at the vet for 2 days now and it seems like they aren't doing anything with him besides feeding him and 'monitoring' him. So far there has been no report of any parvo test or blood work.. Kyle wants to bring him home tomorrow if they aren't doing anything with him.. What should we do?!

I want to think he'd be better off here. We can do the same thing they are doing.. Watch him. *sighs* I really don't want him to be alone on Thanksgiving since they'll be closed. I know someone will pop in but still.. It won't be the same as on a normal day. Any advice?
