Mason watches the neighbors go for walks, with or without dogs, from our yard off leash (never unsupervised). He just turned four and this took a long time & a lot of work but we did it! :) Oh yeah, I forgot to add it takes a lot of patience too.

Capone can be trusted off leash he will not take off. A small part of our fenced came down this winter and he would not step over were the fence one was. kathy & capone

Well I wasn't sure exactly how to answer as my dogs would behave differently. I think my pancho would stay, I think my Zoe would run around for awhile and then come back and my deaf boxer Buster would probably romp but if you got in front of him, where he could see you he would come back...

Mine would definitely run off but they would also come back to make sure I am still around. Of course, if they see a squirrel or rabbit there is no telling how long they would be gone!!

For the most part they stay on our property unless they are running to stretch their legs then they go about two houses down and turn around.

Ali does a pretty good job with staying close to us. We live in a neighborhood where everyone knows everybody and their pets know each other too. Me and my boyfriend let Ali run in the front yard only if we are out there with him. There's only been on time when he started to run and that was because he saw a stray cat acrossed the street, but as soon as I yelled for him he came right back. Most of the time it's the neighbors dogs that run into our yard to play with Ali!

Mugsy is pretty good about staying in the yard. We've worked with him on the boundaries and he's picked them up pretty good. I don't think he would run, since he can barely stand to be in a different room than us. When I cut the grass, he's in the yard (which is not fenced), unchained and does very well with not leaving. However, he's never in the yard without one of us being out there too.

Toffee would never run off. She sticks very close to me and would come if called, always. When she was a puppy, I had a house on 5 acres. It was only fenced by the road--on the other side was a pond, on the other two sides woods.. but she had almost a five acre yard to play in. She never went far from me, though she would happily run HUGE circles around me with her soccer ball. But she's always listened to me very well.

One time she took off after a squirrel and actually CAUGHT it with her paw. I yelled her name and she stopped and turned. Poor squirrel ran like the dickens to safety! Point of that story.... even with distractions she is very good about listening to me.

She's never in any yard, fenced or otherwise, without constant supervision though.

Tess is 6yrs - this is the first yr we trusted her off leash - Eagle was well trained so he always came back.
Curly has to be watched the whole time - but he does always come back - when he is good and ready

they stay!

We have four, and they all stay in the front yard when we are out there unless they have their leashes on which means we are walking to the park. However, they are all adults. We live on a busy street and I wouldn't ever let a puppy loose in the front yard until they were totally trustwothy. Puppies are too unpredictible!

We have even had them in a sit stay position when another dog walked by with no worries. They make me soooooo proud!

Would stay close- I know this for a fact after the last few days, we went camping for the first time! Cisco did great, stayed right by us. I let him go with me to check the mail everyday, just at the end of my driveway and he has always stayed right by me. But this was the longest he was off lead and still stayed with the family!
Good boy, I thought he did great considering he is only 13 1/2 weeks!
