All of you are doing great!! And you too, Cubby! Like Jean said, it's those times you associate with smoking that make it tough to quit. appicon appicon

I have noted though, he does reach into his now empty shirt pocket, subconciously looking for the cigs.

After 12 years????:( How scary....I guess it will never really be completely over will it? Arrgghhhh!

Good Job Cub-rilla! We are all proud of you. After all you are the one who inspired this dedicated group to seek the non-smoking status we aspire for...(Well that and Olly's threat to only allow me to post in the Boxer Standard forum  ) It is tough but I am glad you were able to resist.

Jenn and Jean...hang in there fellow quitters..I think we are all doing great and you guys do make it easier for me, you really do. Thanks Deb

LOL Yep but Deb it is not out of the body/mind telling him he needs his nic fix, it is out of habit of reaching for the smokes when having a conversation or coffee with someone. He truly is unaware that he does it (unless of course I have had enough of his nonsmoking speal, then I point it out to him that he does :D ) So, I expect that 50 years from now, as I sit in my rocking chair at the old age home, talking to a fellow inmate, I too will subconciously pick up my purse and dig for the invisible pkg of smokes. (As long as I don't start smoking the imaginary cigs I should be able to stay out of the "Special Care" facility ;) )

Yeppers we just had the white sugar ones. Then we had this gum that looked like cigars.

My problem is drinking a cup of coffee and I have to have a smoke with it. I will have to stop the coffee and just drink tomato juice and start my workout that way, w/o the coffee. I am preparing my mind right now, so I 2 will join you non smokers soon. We are going on a trip, so after that I will join the NON SMOKERS!!! I have the new lozenges, called commit....I can't use the patch so I will do that lozenge. I may just have to go cold turkey. I too tried the Welbutrin and couldn't sleep. A friend of mine said she used it and that is how she quit....2 months now.

Take up needle point/cross stitch, have to use both hands so no smokey smokey!!

Keep on keepin on and soon it will be the past!!!!!!!

Yep, we had chocolate ones and the white sugary ones, but it was the chocolate I liked best. They were a dark chocolate rolled in a paper (similar to the cig paper on a smoke ) Surprisingly, it was my dad, the parent that smoked, that indulged me with a package of them every Saturday on our weekly trip to hang out with his friends in the town he grew up in. They came in packages of 20, and the packaging was similar to the pouch pkgs. the US cigs come in. I don't recall my mother ever buying them for me. Chocolate cigs, orange crush pop and hanging out with the gang was my Saturday fun as a very young child, but ya know I truly looked fwd to the time each week :D
