Good for you whiteoakboxers!!! Good luck!

Vasha - keep up the good work!!

I'm back to smoking only in the evenings, and have still cut down then. Need to do better though! This weekend will be the real trial! Last weekend.....forget it! I'll try harder this weekend. smashicon

Vasha you can do it! I haven't had a smoke since August and guess what. The craving for one does go away! Recently I was in a bar and even then I didn't want one!! I did of course play with a straw all night to keep my hands busy ;)

Deb -

You CAN do it. I don't smoke regularly anymore. I have one or two when I'm with my rescue friends, but that's about it!! And I don't do it cuz I crave one, just a force of habit :)

IT'S DOABLE!!

Just think about all the $$ you'll save that you can spoil Goliath and Jack with LOL

With the $$ I saved, we moved into a 1100 sq ft up/downstairs apartment LOL

Thanks Vasha.....I am gonna really try. I have to quit..I justhave too. I have only smoked for 31 years!!!! So it won't be easy, but I am gonna give it my all. My hubby is trying it too...so we'll either help each other or strangle each other :D Send me all the "quitting" vibes you can muster!

Go Debbie, Go Debbie! <<doing a weird cheerleading dance that for Cub looks remarkably unnatural and decidedly un-graceful>>

Debbie - I quit 10 weeks ago! You CAN do it! My dentist (yep, DENTIST) prescribed Zyban for me (actually he prescribed the Welbutrin so that my insurance would cover it - but it's the same drug) and although it was not easy, and the Welbutrin made me really weird(er than normal) I was able to quit. The Welbutrin really made handling the cravings alot easier. I am 10 weeks nic free and only have cravings when somebody makes me think about smoking (ahem). Even then they go away fairly quickly and I can even be aroiund smokers without freaking out.

I have tried so many times, and yes - it can be done! We'll be rooting for you!

:)

If you don't try, we are going to restrict your access on BW to the "Boxer Standard" forum only ;)

I too am wanting to quit. Especially since our "wonderful" governor just jacked up the tobacco tax. (about $3.55/pk now) I'll be 25 in June, and have been smoking since I was 15. Everyday I think about the perm. damage I've already done to my body. I've got a 3 and 4 year old, and it kills me to see them "mock smoke" with a straw or something. What kind of example am I setting for my children? I know I can quit. I've done it before. The day I found out I was pregnant with both my girls, I quit that day, cold turkey. No problems. Then, they were born, and I just started again. How dumb was that?smashicon I too kind of blame my husband. He smokes. And has tried the patch, the gum, etc.....but the patch makes him ache wherever he sticks it, and the gum he said "tastes like a horse took a #$@% in his mouth" Yuck! But I honestly don't believe he WANTS to quit. Even though him and I have sat down and figured the cost per year, and it's outrageous. Like $2-3000/per. I could totally think of better things to do w/ that money. The thing with me is, I work 9-5p most days, and most the time I'm by myself at work, so theres no opportunity for a smoke break. It doesn't bother me one bit at work not to smoke. But on the drive home, and when I get home, I probably smoke 8-10 cigs the rest the night. I go outside w/ him when he goes for one, when I'm on the phone, always when I'm driving. So I think it's more bordom than addiction. Welbutrin didn't help me at all. I'm think'n about trying Zyban. But what good is trying to give up an "addiction" when the temptation (my hubby) is always going to be there? Thats a lame excuse, but I think other smokers will agree with me. i'm still going to try, and will join all those who want to quit too. We can support and encourage each other. cool2icon {{sorry this is so long))

Let's do it!! After all...there is only so much we can post about in the "Boxer Standard" Forum!! I used Welbutrin once before and quit for 7 months...7 full months!! I started back the night before we had to have our Hannah put to sleep. But I still have my precious Goliath and Jack to think about and they need their MOM to be here to take care of them. I work on the 10th floor of a non-smoking building, so we have to wait and wait for the "antique" elevators..then walk 25 feet from the building to smoke in an area with no cover..rain or shine..it's just not worth it and I won't smoke in the house at home because of my dogs, so it is just stupid for me to keep smoking and I WILL quit! And if I start back again...would someone please whip me!:p Deb
